After reading the books the show was unwatchable. The movie was decent but the show couldn't keep me interested.

My wife kept telling me how great it was and she watched half of the season already and started over just so I would watch with her.

I’ve never been a fan of the ER type network dramas either so that should tell how good this show is.

Amen. I'm tired of seeing characters vomit as well. Every damn show has a person spewing yellow.
Its sickening, and totally unnecessary.
 
So The Wire has 2 pages worth of mentions (it deserves them all), but no one wants to mention Southland?!

A quick google had me way surprised this was put out on NBC/TNT, def felt like your AMC/HBO/etc. production.

Amazing how well both shows hold up 25 and 15 years later.
 
Jenn and I are enjoying the new Scrubs reboot, we were a bit worried it was going to suck but it's been pretty solid so far.

Still loving Ghosts (US version) think we're on Season 3, but it's quickly ranked up to be one of my favorite shows.

The new season of Ted is out and we're closing in on the end, think we're a few episodes away. While there are certainly a lot of really funny parts, and especially relevant since I grew up in Massachusetts so I can relate to many of the jokes, there's some issues.

Specifically, it feels like EVERY fucking episode has to include poop, fart, puke or dong "humor". It makes me feel like I'm watching Jackass at times, and I wasn't a fan of Jackass. I don't need a character to fart, yap about his diarrhea or display his dong multiple times on screen to be entertained. Are writers that bankrupt of ideas that all they can do is lean into sophomoric jokes?

Maybe you have it in ONE episode, but every fucking episode Jenn and I have to go "oh geez, here we go again with this shit"

I had the same worry, and felt a little bit of that cringy feeling during the first episode back. Now that it’s settled in a little though I’m enjoying it as well. Good mix of nostalgia plus enough new things to check multiple boxes.

Never watched Southland but did quite a few watch throughs of the wire. I'll add it to the list

It’s good. Solid. I think some of the appeal is how well they cover the south land, as someone from there I constantly am watching scene locations that I visited, drove by, or was aware of. So that may be some of the appeal for me because it feels very real and not like actors doing their job in front of cameras.

But even in binging, where I was like okay now it’s getting monotonous, there’s just enough character dev/arc in later seasons that maintained my attention.

I hear so little about it, will be interested to see if your feedback is positive or negative down the road!
 
I watched Southland when it was airing. Really good show, I was disappointed when it ended. Lucy Liu is in some of the later seasons iirc.

Wired is one of my favorites. I just re-watched it recently.

Finished A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (GOT prequel). I thought it was very well done, one of my favorite recent shows. House of the Dragon is decent, but this was much better, very interesting characters and story line. No 'magic' stuff or dragons in S1.

Also re-watching Breaking Bad. I've seen all the spin offs. Better Call Saul was also really good. El Camino was ok.

Re-watching Sons of Anarchy. My wife and I watched Mayans which wasn't as good, but still entertaining.

We're watching Steal on Amazon prime. Short series, but really good. It's about a group in finance that helps an external org with a hack to steal pension funds.

Fubar (Schwarzenegger) was really good. Great action comedy. There's a few seasons of it.

Just finished Peacemaker season 2 last night. S1 was definitely better, but still good.

The Boys is also good if you like super heroes.

Homeland is a great show as well. An American espionage thriller.

Reacher was really good. Post military action thriller.

Night Agent - Decent, but not really believable.

Succession was really good. Sad they didn't keep it going.

Diplomat is pretty good. Keri Russell was also great in The Americans (Russian spies).

I really liked Knight of the Seven Kindoms as well.
However, it used to be that an HBO season was 13 episodes (half of a standard 26-episode network show season)
Then, they started shows with twelve, then ten, and then eight episodes.

For Knight of the Seven Kindoms to call this a "season" with only SIX, 45-minute episodes is just lazy. An insult to the viewer.
"See, we can feed you anything GOT and you'll still eat it" mentatlity. Shame on them.

Agreed. My wife and I were saying 'THAT'S IT?' We figured it shouldn't have been that expensive to make because of no fancy magic, zombies, dragons, etc.

Maybe they wanted to see if it would be popular and then have more episodes in S2? Probably unlikely.

It’s based on the novella by George R.R. Martin, so who knows how long they’re going to stretch this out. It may be like the LOTR…3 books, three films…but they took a small book like the Hobbit and made THAT into 3 films.

Currently watching Born to Bowl and The Chair Company when I get some spare time.
 
I gave up after 1 episode on DTF and rooster. Didnt care for either enough to continue. I did just rewatch season 1 of sneaky Pete not too long ago and one of the few originals I liked on Amazon.worth a watch if you can’t find anything new.
 
I keep getting hit with clips from Mr Inbetween that has me interested but it’s not on any of the streaming services I currently subscribe to.

Anybody watching/watched this? Is it worth changing up services for?

I had a couple of days off work, just wanted to chill, and was looking for something to watch. I saw that this was on Hulu so I gave it a whirl. I binge watched the first 2 seasons in one day 😂. I didn’t care for season 3 as much. Maybe that’s why it was the last.

I’m not sure if it’s worth buying a new subscription just for this but I’ll give it a 👍. Kinda right up my alley and also pretty funny.

Extremely bingeable. It ties together like the super monotony of day to day life with a tv show/movie worthy storyline.

Like, want to see how a hitman/enforcer deals with his daughter’s school troubles? Or what he enjoys for lunch? Parenting style or difficulty with annoying coworkers?

Kinda fun to watch a very well written, acted, directed show where you follow that type of criminal enterprise/character who…is just like you and me?

I think in that sense makes it very easy to connect with characters who are probably nothing like you on a show taking place in a foreign country and so on. Most folks that I know who’ve seen it 1) REALLY enjoyed it but 2) also tended to be pretty big into dramatic tv and film.

Turns out Disney+ where it’s on over here, was free for me to activate through our tv/broadband service. Family now has access to pretty much every streaming service there is, we’re very outdoorsy :rolleyes:

Just watched the first episode and this seems to be right up my ally. Feels like one will develop a Tony Soprano kind of love for Ray.

I mostly watch American shows so it’s nice with some change of pace once in a while. Not that either is necessarily better or worse, just different.
 
We have been binging "Alone". If you like that kind of stuff, this is definitely worth a watch.
