I’m a big advocate for mixed games, even more so when played as fixed limit. There’s just not enough mixed game discussion on the forum. So here’s my optimal mixed game rotation. I don’t think we’ve changed it much at all in over 2 years.

React. Suggest. Post yours.

The following rotation is fantastic. The first 4 games (all split pot games!) involve a double board game, a draw game, a hi-lo game, and a split hand game.

5-Card Double-Board Omaha (God’s Game)
Dra2maha
5-Card Omaha 8 (Big O)
SOHE

After 1 (maybe 2) orbits each of the games above, we introduce a new variation for each, to add some twists for the 2nd half of the night. Same deal. All split pot games with a double board game, a draw game, a hi-lo game, and a split hand game.

5-Card Derailment (God’s Game w/ a Twist)
Dra2maha 49
5-Card ImPLOcean 8
Crazy SOHE

My favorite mixed game is:

6 card, double board, SOHE-Draws-3-Then he discards 1, Hi-Low, 7’s are wild (heads up only game)

We don't really have set rotations, but there are games that we regularly play:

Big O (5-card PLO8)
2-or-3 Big O
2-or-5 Big O (with or without a draw)
Scrotum
Reverse (must use 3 from hand)
Gods Game (sometimes Hi/Hi, sometimes best high/best low across both boards)

We do mix in some Stud games and some Triple Draw games as well.

We play a fixed rotation that runs on a slideshow controlled by the dealer.

We have about 40 games in the rotation - we have our core games with a few different variants on a given night. In total we probably hit about 25 different games/variants throughout the evening... we're usually done after about 5 hrs.

Here's the current list:

5-Card Double-Board Omaha (God’s Game)
Dra2maha
5-Card Omaha 8 (Big O)
SOHE
I like this, but Bi Sexual in the middle is such a better game than SOHE. I'd add derailment and change Big O to 5 in the hand 6 on the board, extra turn card.

Big O with 5 in hand and 6 on board is called 5-Card ImPLOcean 8. The 6th board card is the ocean.

I agree with you. Both this and Derailment are also in my 2nd rotation.

Dra2maha 49

Crazy SOHE

I think God’s Game with best high across both boards and best low across both boards is often referred to as 5-Card Ultimate Omaha 8.

Great game.

Core games we play:
Hold em
Big O
Scarney
Draw2maha

Games we will sometimes mix in:
Scrotum8
Derailment

We don't really have a set rotation at my home games, but the ones we play frequently include:

Draw2maha
Route 66
Omaha Hi/Lo 4 card and 5 card variants
SOHE
Tahoe Pitch 'n Roll
God's Game

If it was up to me, we'd just play Draw2maha variants all night lol

In addition to TXNLHE and Pineapple, I 've also introduced to my crew:

-Cuckoo bird: Three hole cards dealt, one discarded upon seeing the flop, the remaining two both obligatory to use. No Limit. Could be also called 3-card Omaha switching to 2-card Omaha (known by Uncle Doyle as "Greek Hold'em" or "Tight Hold'em").

-Twin Baby Mammoths (Pot Limit, Split pot),: Three hole cards. Two three-card boards (split pot), so a single-card flop, turn and river. Three hole cards useable and 2 board cards or vice-versa. Can be also played fixed limit pre-flop.

-5 or 6-card stud (four betting rounds), with an extra "pompon" if just 5-card (two face-up community cards, only one of which is useable, to be dealt simultaneously with the 5th, face-down, personal card).
Pot limit with just a tiny dealer ante, no forced bet (so check is possible from the first betting round).

I hope these could be of some help. :)

What is 'Bi Sexual'?

Yeah I'm no fan of SOHE but too many in my group like it for me to pull it out of the rotation.

So you want to focus on Limit only? If yes, I like this:

2 to 7 Triple Draw
Pitch & Roll (not Tahoe, so 4 and 5th streets separately and 7th down)
O8
Archie
Stud
Drawmaha

So a mix of draw, stud and flop games, single pots and split pots.

I like some of the Omaha based games but I think they play way better as Pot Limit.

I remember being on a table of Limit games in a meet-up, dealers choice. We played almost exclusively Omaha based games: it was awful. Didn't see the point, really. Some games are much better Limit, and some Pot Limit.

@skipton I know you didn't even want to play derailment, but maybe you'll prefer @RocAFella1 's new improved devil's dierailment where 50% of the time 2 boards are wiped.
🤣 That sound insane lol
Dierailment:
Roll a die after rivers are dealt.
1,2 top board derailed
3,4 middle board
5,6 bottom board

Devil’s dierailment:
1 top board
2 middle board
3 bottom board
4 top and middle
5 middle and bottom
6 top and bottom

What is 'Bi Sexual'?

Yeah I'm no fan of SOHE but too many in my group like it for me to pull it out of the rotation.
So bisexual in the middle is a variant of SOHE.

It’s the same game the configuration of your hand is different.

You would get five cards in total you would then separate them into two hands where one card is shared between the two hands.

You would lay them in front of you with three cards in a small pile, one card by itself and another one card by itself.

In this configuration reading from left to right, the three cards on the left would be half of your Omaha hand. The card in the middle would be the other half of your Omaha hand. It would also behalf of your Holdom hand lastly, a single card on the right would be the other half of your hold hand.

Looking at this configuration, you would see the one in the middle goes both ways. Hence the name bisexual in the middle.

So bisexual in the middle is a variant of SOHE.
So if you added a draw component where the 'shared' card could be discarded and replaced with a new card from the stub would you call it 'transexual'?

Or by that point would we just call it LGBTQSOHE? :ROFLMAO:

Jk.

But I wanted to introduce to my players what will sound super vanilla to most of you but I think it would be fun:

- NLHE
- Crazy Pineapple
- Omaha
- 5 Card Draw

Just have those rotating throughout the night.
We‘ve never tried mixed games and I thought of a simple rotation somewhat like this.

Did you try it? How did your players like it? Also what stakes do you play and what limit did you use for the other games?

Haven’t had a chance to try it yet but a quick survey from the group and they are apprehensive lol (basically as I expected though).

So to a group who’s only played NLHE and you’re trying to introduce mixed games I would run the idea by them and then maybe soft launch it by playing Pineapple or another basic mixed game.

My guess is that people will push back more on a game like Omaha or Draw because it’s so different from NLHE. So my plan when I get to play is only play Pineapple the first night which they should all have fun with it and then add in another game next time with the goal of having 4 games on rotation to mix things up.

Oh, and we play micro stakes, typically $20 buy in, but I would suggest anywhere from $10-20 for my group.
