Had the opportunity to cohost and chip a bigger game last night for some action players. All of my worst chip buying impulses were vindicated as nearly the whole set made it in play.
5/5/10 NL/PLO rotation with hourly/monotone bomb pots. 1500 to start then match half the big stack.
8 starting stacks of 10 white/18 red/20 green/9 black, and a ninth 20/20/9. This was a red chip game but wanted whites on the table for dealer tips. 44 greens/9 blacks for the first 2K rebuys then 60 black, 40 purple and 40 bananas if needed. All fit into a versa case + 1 Justin rack, with accessories if needed.

Ended up with all but 25 1Ks on the table. Don’t need to play these stakes regularly, but it was fun as a special occasion and excuse to get the bulk of this set in play.
Remember: you always need the extra chips.

Very nice chipset, probably a great feeling to get it all in play, but I gotta say holy crap that table is GRIMY
It comes off that way in pictures for sure. Didn’t feel that way in person. Speed cloth tends to show every little imperfection. Another reason I prefer felt toppers.

Green poker felt really shows every bit of dirt and dust it feels. Chips and tables being used enough are great though and kind of a badge of honor that you need to think about cleaning them.
Get one of those Bissell little green wet vaccuums and do a cleaning once in a while, it does wonders for a poker table and useful around the house too.

My cash table sets are roughly 1k chips to handle 0.25/0.50 up to 1/2 games. If I ever had to go 5/5 or 5/10 that's an automatic 400-500 more chips.

This will handle two "normal" tables of anything from 0.25/0.25 through 0.5/1 or 1/1 or a single PCF meetup table at those stakes.

In our 1/2 games we've been down to just two barrels of 100s before so I started adding a barrel of 500s to most sets.
For most meet ups (unless you try to host the big boy table) the following breakdown works well and if the host has quarters to lend out you can omit them
100 fracs (alternatively if you like a lot of fracs do 140 here and 160 1s).

For a single table that works great! Not enough fracs for a second table (6 players each) if you need to stretch it, though.

Its not ideal. I don't like giving 8 fracs per player, but is is possible. When I build two table sets. I build them for 13 players, 140 x .25.
Agreed! It’s a one table set up. Usually there’s enough guest sets that you don’t need to spread two tables and it also lets us get to play with more sets and take a break from having to manage the bank

Agree. 160 fracs at least for me. If I need to bank two tables, that's 12 chips each. 12/17/x amount of $5's needed for starting stacks. One player gets extra quarters though for 12 players to make it work.
One rack of fracs per table default, but not more unless you have an early-rebuy-heavy-meta. In most games 6-8 fracs per player in starting stacks should be fine.
But when people rebuy a bunch while they can make change, for the first bunch of rebuys I’d rather give them clean starting stacks to work with and not plan in a bunch of change making slowing down the game
