Hey PCF! Glad to be here, this already feels like a really solid community built around a shared passion.

I’ve played poker on and off for about a decade, but over the past couple of years I’ve been hosting bi-weekly home games at my place with 6–8 close friends. Very easy-going, low-stakes cash games, mostly an excuse to get the guys together, have a few drinks, and enjoy a good night around the table.

I’m still very much a novice player, but I genuinely love the game, the conversations that come with it, and everything that surrounds poker culture. Lately I’ve been looking to level up my home setup, especially upgrading my chips, and I’m excited to learn more about group buys, which sound like the way to go.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone, checking out your chips and setups, and learning as much as I can along the way.

Cheers,
Taylor

Oh no way, that's awesome! Absolutely would love to connect, appreciate it.
Actually, think you need to post some more before your DMs open up. Explore the forum and comment in some threads and share what you’re looking for/ what you use in your setup etc.

Just remember, there's no 'one right way' to do anything regarding this hobby/passion. But as far as chips go, you'll find that "The Law of Samples" will be one you'll likely want to abide by. Whenever possible, get a sample of something you're interested in to see if you actually like it.

Well said my friend, thanks for the advice!

Welcome. Lots of great info here to help boost a home game.

Welcome. I'm semi local to you in Long Beach, CA. I've collected some low stakes chips over the years. Probably too many cash sets if you asked me. I'd be more than willing to share a few sample sets:

- Royal Card Room 43mm cash set
- Key West cash set
- Horseshoe Southern Indiana (HSI) Paulson cash set (had some 0.25 cent frac chips made over the blue Paris hot stamp chips)
- Dunes (China Clay) cash set - I gave a bunch of these away, but still have a lot of the 0.25 cent chips.
- Bluff Canyon cash set (my group loved the chocolate quarters)

Last night, I saw some of the Olympus chips that were mentioned in a thread. I was impressed with how those look.

Thanks so much for the message and your kindness, truly appreciate that! I’ve actually already placed a couple orders for some samples so I’m all set, definitely looking forward to getting them in hand and checking em’ out. Once again, thank you!

No problem. Getting the sample sets is definitely the way to go. I've ordered a good 20-25 sample sets myself over the years. It's funny how you see some poker chips in pictures and they look great. But as soon as you get to see them in person the reactions is ... disappointment! Or vice versa, some look way better in person than you thought they would. There are the 10g weight vs 14g weight differences as well.

What sample sets did you end up ordering if you don't mind me asking?

Welcome to the forum. There are lots of info on here to help you decide on all things poker, cards and chips related. Much like you, I host a bi weekly or monthly low stake cash game. I built my own table with help from the forum, purchased a custom cloth or three, and had a group buy for Chips to match the custom cloth. Good luck with your searches.
