Hello i’m looking for a 500 piece cash game poker set. Me and my buddies play .25-.50¢ and have been using the basic metal slug chips.

I’ve had my eyes on nexgen remix or olympus from the poker store. Any recommendations?

What do you think of these ceramic chips?
I might be able to put together a set of Paulson Diamond Mold clay chips with labels like these if that interests you. Colors would be different.

I would recommending ordering a set of both of them. If you decide to go with either set, the samples can be used as spares just in case a chip breaks or goes missing. In my opinion, I think the Olympus set is much better than the Nexgen for not much more money.

What would your chip breakdown be for your 500 piece, 25c/50c cash set?

Hey,

Welcome!

Recommend you check out this thread:

And then this one if you want to read more:

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...ut-a-cash-game-chip-set-5c-10c-to-5-10.30897/

If you’re big bet is $0.5 you want a bank of $2,500 to be safe.

100x 0.25 = $25
200x $1 = $200
300x $5 = $1,500
50x $25 = $1,250

Total bank = $3k

Better for up to $0.5/$1:

100x 0.25 = $25
200x $1 = $200
300x $5 = $1,500
80x $25 = $2,000
20x $100= $2,000

Total bank = $5,725

You can play around with the above +/- chips per denom to suit.

Check out @Hobbyphilic for his youtube videos, he’s likely done a review of both those chips.

I really like the nexgen for cost/quality, I have the older version. Can’t go wrong with them for the price.

GL!

we usually play 50$ buy in, 200 - .50¢, 100 - .25¢, 150 - 1$, 50 - 5$. 50 total chips

sorry, meant to say order sample sets for both. What blinds do you usually play for your $50 buy-ins?
.25¢ - 50¢. The plan was to get some ceramic composite chips but they seem to be over 300$ for a set of 500.

I think most people on the forum will recommend not getting the 50c if you're getting the 25c.

So the breakdown would be

100x 25c
200x $1
200x $5

if you're only getting 500 chips

Seems a waste to get 100 chips that only act as the small blind.
I recommend ditching the 50c chip and maybe getting more 25c chips. You may not need to buy as many chips, and play will go smoother.

Could play .50/.50. Gonna have my crew do that sometimes to get my .50 chips in play.

Keep an eye out for a Tina set in the classifieds, people let them go for pretty cheap a lot of the time.

Okay thank you, this is the first real set i plan on getting so all the advice is helpful.

I did a similar thing and went with Nexgen. They are a step up from slugged and dont have branding on the labels which I wanted at the time. They are affordable and look decent in most colours. I got them during covid when seeing things in person was hard to do. I am wishing I spent more than I did at the time and am now shopping for higher end sets. They stack and shuffle very well but are a bit light. Overall I am happy and I would be happy to travel with them because they are easy to replace. On an expensive table they look cheap to me.
