Roller coaster night at the B&B. I was up, then down, then climbed back to up, then way down and finally finished up. And I didn’t even see a single bomb pot to show down. Just wild action in the standard NLH game. These two hands kind of exemplifies my evening. Note, they were both in the first 90 mins of the game.
Let me set the table. We play the race car game and 7/2 game. Both have a significant impact on how aggressive, wild and big our game can get for $1/2. The race car game, if you’re not aware, pays a bonus from each player for winning 3 hands in a row that starts at $10/each and is $50/each for the fourth. The 7/2 collects a $10 bounty from each player for winning with 7/2, but you have to show it.
Hand one. I’m on the button with A

and have straddled. First to act is small blind who bumps it to $20. MP has 8

2

, but is going for his fourth car, so he’s playing any two cards. He raises to $55. Folds to me and I raise to $150. SB and MP call. Flop is below. SB check, MP jams, I snap call with second nuts, SB snap calls me with stone nuts. MP has flush draw and bottom pair that doesn’t improve. Fortunately, I have SB covered by a lot, so does MP, so the side pot was big enough to offset the $600 I lost to the SB. Pretty well broke dead even on the hand.
Second hand. No straddle this hand. BB has 7/2o. UTG folds, I open to $20 with 22. we get a coupe callers (non factors) and the BB limps in. I flop a set. BB bets $35, I smooth call, hoping the limpers stay in. Everyone folds. Heads up and the turn is a 7. BB checks, I open to $55, BB jams, I snap call and he sees he’s got a 2 outer. I ask him how many times he wants to run it (always do, especially when I’m crushing the opponent) and he says “Once is plenty, I’m dead. Let’s get this over with.” Rivers a 7 for the better full house. He only had like $455 left, so not the end of the world. Just typical of my night. lol
Bought in for $300. Added on to $500. Bust, and rebought for $1k. Eventually bust again, bought in for another $1k. Cashed out for $4,280. $1,780 profit, but it felt like I got my ass kicked, not gonna lie. I got set over set, full house over my full house on the river twice, etc. Made for an action packed evening, for sure! Kaleb had similar fortune, but wasn’t quite able to crawl out of the hole. Finished down $675. The action lead to an amazing night for tips for mom, however! lol
All told, everyone had good food and a great time with our degen friends! I’m already jonesing for next Saturday!
