Leaded sample set ideas (1 Viewer)

Hello leaded chip experts / connoisseurs, I’m looking to pick up a few (maybe 3-5) leaded sample sets from different manufacturers on different molds to start to get a feel for how they compare to normal clays and each other. I would very much appreciate any recommendations you may have. Note- I would prefer sets that are mint or close to it vs well worn since I’ll likely try to build a set at some point and wouldn’t want a very worn set. Trying to get a feel for what they are like in newer state.

This is going to be a challenge George. Leaded THC sample sets in general may not be difficult but some of them can be extremely challenging to get today. Sharp or mint leaded THC sets are even more rare/difficult/expensive to get. Even in a mixed set. The chips that do move today do so privately.

There really are no other manufacturers or molds that will be leaded and sharp. The 1-800-TRKs set is the only exception I can think of.

If you want to experience some high end leaded sets I would recommend attending some meetups.

Getting your hands on a few different barrels will probably be easiest and among them, starburst THC. Unless you are open to RHC which will mostly be in used condition, you won’t really find anything leaded other than THC.

Barrels is good idea from @jamesjkim suggestions.

If you’re okay with Paulson Fantasy (CDI, FLV etc) expect to pay $4-$6/chip. Any real casino will be north of $6+ up to $20/chip for mint leaded THC/TRK.

Totally agree with this. Weight, textured inlays, and sharpness of the chip all factor into hand feel during play. Getting barrels like @jamesjkim suggested is a great idea.

Ive got leaded less expensive THC, TRK, and RHC I could prob cut out a shuffle stack of each for you to try out. Shoot me a pm if interested.

Didn’t realize CDI and FLV were leaded but makes sense (think the were pre-2008 which I believe was the cutoff at Paulson? I do like them both especially CDI

The fantasy lines are right when lead was going away so they are right in the middle. Heavy for sure but not like 1970-1990 bricks.

CDI is great and obtainable to build or buy a set in a reasonable time frame.
