1. One full set of those chips were given to the new owner. I also have a full set and so does David Sarles. A lot of them were actually rejects. I have never touched mine and neither has David. You would have to ask Mike what his plans are going forward and what he is going to do with the set he has. Every other (basically reject) custom chips that were on the factory property were destroyed some time ago. Nothing else went to Mike. The chips I have been selling recently, of which the final ones are in the mail to me, were from the contents of Jim Blanchard's trailer which I purchased 3 years ago and to my knowledge all made in the ASM or Burt Co. days. They were only at the factory as I had nowhere else to store them.

2. The chips shown in that other thread were not just samples. They included some replacements and an add-on for European customers, shipped via me in the UK to save costs. The box was stolen from USPS and showed up on eBay. I had to buy them back from eBay and then passed them on to the relevant owners.

I may have misunderstood, but was told that CPC pulls samples from every single custom ever made for the security/requirement/legal aspect, and that additional samples may have been pulled for personal collection(s).

Again, I may have completely misunderstood but, if it’s not a misunderstanding:

1 - what happens to the full CPC under lock and key samples for security/legal/verification? Does that stay with previous CPC or go with the CPC new ownership group?

2 - David posted ad nauseam that no other chips other than the samples for him were ever produced, but that doesn’t appear to be true.

Is there a set standard as to how many samples will be pulled and kept/gifted moving forward with Washington CPC?

Again, apologies if I’m misinterpreting, or if this is something shared with creators at time of submission/purchase/etc. I own CPC samples and 1 CPC set, but wasn’t the original submitter.

As I said above - 'I also have a full set'. Every time the factory sent me a package, if there was room they would include my latest ones.

For previous ownership, idk I think it’s water under the bridge - it is what it is.

Again, i realize I may be 110% talking out of my ass (have fun with quoting that one back at me in the future), but it seems like everyone knew there was always one extra copy pulled, now there’s mention of 2 more, and Jamie would be the 4th but not mentioned here in above post.

I think all custom owners would be totally fine knowing that reject chips they wouldn’t even receive anyways were parsed out for historical reference and in appreciation of the company’s journey for original/majority stakeholders and key employee - it just might be nice if that was public knowledge or told/asked.

(Which again, for all I know it’s right there in the tos or whatever that company does away with chips that don’t meet viability in the way they see fit).

I was just sharing in passing with 2 diff chipper groups and each didn’t know the above and weren’t super stoked.

Very logical and well thought out post. I haven’t bought any sets, so I never pondered the impacts. However, for those who are old enough, it seems like wedding picture negatives, that are maintained by the photographer, and eventually sold to the original purchaser or destroyed.

It's difficult to be objective, since I ordered blanks for hot stamping, but I have a persistent memory, dating back to the CT days, that some samples remained at the factories. And here I'm referring not only to ASM/CPC, but also to Paulson and BCC. Perhaps this was a requirement by the Gambling Commission to retain samples of manufactured chips, but in the age of computer technology, this has become completely strange, but it certainly reminds me of the story of "it's always been this way and we've been doing it this way for longer."

(replying with what I just did in another thread. It'll happen when it'll happen. My guess is equipment it still being installed. Tests still need to be done to make sure it all moved and got put back together OK before any of the backlog orders made. My guess is none of the tests will be done before the holidays are over, but also just a test. It's going to take CPCMike time to get normal production up and running and I wouldn't expect any word on new orders let alone pricing until most of the backlog orders are done.)

As some of you noticed during my purchase announcement of CPC, I live in Washington state and the factory is in Maine - how’s that going to work? It wouldn’t, at least not for me. It was always part of the purchase plan to move the factory to Washington.

As part of the purchase, it was mutually agreed that I would not move the factory until all orders placed up to and including April 27th have been shipped.

All orders placed up to and including April 27th will be manufactured and shipped exactly as they have been for the past 12 years - same equipment, same people, same procedures and same quality.

We’ve been operating this way for the past few months since I bought the company. Due to the original ‘For Sale’ and subsequent ‘Sold!’ announcements we are dealing with an unprecedented number of orders to fulfill before we move - please be patient as we work through them with the same care and quality that you’ve come to expect from CPC.

New orders for custom chips, stock designs (Rounders/Atlantic) will be paused until the new factory is up and running. Orders for samples will be accepted for US customers only and last until we run out inventory.

All equipment from the current factory will be moved to the new location in Woodinville, WA.

In June, we will be announcing a PCF Design Contest to design a new stock set to be sold on CPC. The winner will receive a free set of the new chips and they will be the first set to be produced at the new factory.

Stay tuned for further announcements on the design contest and our progress on the move.

I suppose you might also have received the message (email) about a month ago about how things are going and the difficulties of getting everything up and running.

For those who haven't and still might be interested, here's a short quote from said mail:

However, I'd take that with caution. Mike has mentioned he doesn't like guesstimates and I can imagine many things are not under his control when hiring subcontractors and working with the authorities.

I'm waiting for my set as well, ordered almost a year ago, but from what I've read, it's not unusual that CPC orders take multiple months to complete (and that's not including situations where a factory had to be moved across the US). Sure, the situation isn't ideal, but that's something that's not under our control. I'd also prefer getting more frequent updates to increase trust that I'll get my money's worth, but that again might come at the cost of all of our orders being delayed even further. Documenting the process and writing updates takes time as well.

He’s got bigger worries, like no income and incredible expenses for a year on a business loan. That’s putting a lot more pressure on him I’m sure than a few posts here are. Part of your money is tied up in raw materials that haven’t been used and the rest is what he’s been using to pay the bills until he’s operational again.

Yeah but he shouldn’t have been taking $ for orders. PCFers shouldn’t have been funding his move and opening operations.

Wish him the best. PCF is 100x better with CPC operating. I just believe any orders not completed before the move should have been refunded.

I agree. I’m not even into customs, but I appreciate the good ones. Show me a bunch of re-labels and Tina’s on a hall of fame ballot and I’m not voting.
