Are you going to pay “market price” for a set of Tigers that have been used regularly for years knowing that 90% of them that were produced are still out there unplayed? Also, in the set the ones and fives are rounded slightly but the $25 and $100 are mint. Are you ok with mixed condition and still willing to pay top dollar?

I got my money back for primary $25's through $1k's after putting them in play three times. Same with two racks of VIP $5's I used once. I'm having trouble unloading the remaining rack of 5k's I have.

Not at all bad all things considered. Someone will be looking for those 5k's as is or for a relabel project eventually.

OPs post was almost 3 years ago and it’s the first time since I’ve seen chip prices drop across all RHC, NAGB, TRK and lead.

I think what you're going to see is prices drop a little more as people become desperate to free up cash - even at a loss. I don't think the bottom is going to fall out - since most people are probably pretty content with the state of their collections and would rather hold than take a loss.

That’s the age old question that everybody needs to decide for themselves.
I would never pay market price for tigers, but let’s pretend we’re talking about market price of chips I want. Yes, I’m fine with paying market price for chips that have seen typical PCF home use. I’m talking about chips that the inexperienced might call mint, but to the trained eye aren’t mint or even near mint. I’m great with those excellent+ chips, because I don’t really attach a premium to a mint product that I plan to use.

Now if you’re talking about chips with heavy use, that’s a different story. But I’ll worry about that when I see it. What percentage of premium chips do you think get played more than once a month? Whatever that number is, I’ll take the under.

I've got 'mint' chips that have seen weekly action for a year and you wouldn't really know it... to the trained eye they're all 9s and 9.5s but for all intents and purposes they show basically no wear.

Compare that to a casino, where the chips are more or less in circulation 24/7 and they'll be showing significant wear in less than a month.

We can fix it! Just give everyone 300 bumps for classifieds for the year. And you pay $100 into the pool for every less than $2k classified/sale you have that is open for more than 2 weeks.

When everyone stops worrying about being made whole and acting like a brick and mortar business with overhead and not losing a $ on each exchange, everything will be fixed.

Or we can just talk about new things.

Cpc, sure. I'd have a tough time telling the difference. Ceramic? No questions, still near mint. Paulson? Much softer. After a year of weekly play, I'd be upset if I was told they were "mint"

That's basically what I said. They were 'mint' (as far as I could tell) when I received them and they're still almost in the same condition.

Some people prefer broken in chips to sharp, chalky ones.

IMO, the Trops I have are perfect. Still stand on edge but are broken in enough that they're easy to shuffle and feel and sound great
