Hi everyone, I am looking at buying my first decent set of poker chips. Unfortunately, I am on a budget and I have been looking at purchasing a set of either China Clays (love the look of the Majestics) or Tinas. Just wondering peoples thoughts and if they have any preference for one type of chip over the other. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Get samples. They're very different chips, very different feel. Tina's may be "objectively" better in that they'll probably last longer and they're more customizable. But Olympus chips from The Poker Store are also a really great value. Your personal preference may vary.

Absolutely get samples. If you are getting a sample of Majestics from Apache, also get a sample of the Mirage chips. Those are tina hybrids. The Olympus poker chips from The Poker Store are incredible value and the best bang for your buck if you like them.

Tina pros-
Highly customizable
Very durable
Vibrant colors

Tina cons-
Take a long ass time to get here

CC pros-
Feel more like actual clay
Sound better (imo) when playing with them
Available quickly

CC cons-
Not customizable
Not as durable
Colors are slightly more muted
Have a distinct smell that is off putting to some

Where are you located in Canada? If you near Ottawa, send me a message as I have samples you could look at.
Hi, I am located in Newfoundland. I appreciate the offer though!

Thank you for the information, much appreciated!

I have personally never used a CC but I personally own Paulson’s and Tina. I’ve played with some metal slug chips as well but I agree with the guys above there are pros and cons of each chip you get. I will say I love my Tina set for the price you can’t beat them! Yes the ceramic sound is different than any other chip but man the colors POP!!!
