I understand that many folks prefer the basic two color decks. But after trying 4 color decks (Copag) in real life, I was immediately converted. I wish 4 color were the standard (as it is for many online players). The two ink system was inherited from the old days when only red and black inks were easily made/afforded. But I also know that the majority of players are just used to how things are. I suppose I gain some kind of edge vs unaware players who don't realize flushes are on the board in the standard two ink setups.

Anyway, just shouting this into the void. If enough folks in Southern California love 4 colors, one day in the distant future we can host a game using only such cards.

End pipe dream.

(Oh and the majority of my players prefer two color, so that's what we use almost all the time. Sigh.)

4 color definitely better, also allows new design since apart from color-blind people, we don't need to see the suit sign on the edge. But I thought only super-expensive Faded Spade brand made them?

Copag still makes 4 color decks and they're available on Amazon last I checked. But I agree that they're not very common.

I recently used Faded Spade 4-colors and I’m with you. Instantly converted and wish this was the standard. I see no legitimate reason to use just 2 colors.

One of the regulars at my cash game hates it, but the rest were fine. He just said it’s “not what he’s used to.” But I’m the host so I get to decide and we’ll probably using those from now on. :)

My dear Friend Berny gift to me ( @allforcharity he pass away last September)
It’s very nice cards
I mean, I'm sure they're cheaper if they're gifted to you and you don't have to pay for them. But where are they cheaper for the rest of us?

I haven't heard of these and I'd love to try them out. But they don't seem to be available, at least in the US.

We've been using an Aces 2.0 setup the last few months, and I forgot how much I love 4 colors from my time playing online.

Did somebody say “four colour suits?”

Where do you find these? I’m only seeing them on Amazon Japan and I only see Bridge size. There’s an option on eBay but it’s also Bridge size and significantly more expensive than FS.
it's an ongoing debate on this site, but most prefer bridge size (with blackjack or jumbo index) to poker size. Methinks poker size were made so Hold'em players have a handful and other variants play better with bridge size, but it's everyone's choice.

Oh I’m aware of the debate, and I’m aware most seem to prefer Bridge (though I’m pretty firmly in the Poker camp myself). But the person I was responding to just made the claim that Trillion cards are “better and cheaper” without giving any more info, so I was trying get some more details.

This is my first time hearing of these. I dig the art! And great colors. But I am a poker size guy. It just makes everything easier to see from across a big table. I have 20/20 vision, yet in cardrooms where they use bridge size standard index, I'm exerting a lot of effort to read the community cards.

But if they ever make a poker size...

My thoughts exactly! I really like the design of these a lot and probably would have already picked up a set if they offered Poker size.

There is no objective usability reason to prefer two-color over four-color. Anything which minimizes possible errors is a plus.

Those still wedded to two-color are people who have trouble with any type of change from what they are accustomed to. It's the same people who freak out when their local newspaper, which hasn't been redesigned since the late 70s, decides to finally take advantage of desktop publishing and print something more readable and eye-catching.

My research indicates that two-color decks originated literally hundreds of years ago, when it was far more expensive to use extra inks. Two-color decks were the result of technological limitations and the resulting costs, not a decision based in actual design principles.
