I started a cash game but with tournament chips (buy in 20$ and you get 800 value chips).
Blinds: 5/10 most of the time
Which denominations are necessary?

5
10 (maybe unnecessary?)
20 (maybe better than 25?)
25
100
500
1000 (just a few in case?)

Thank you

Not sure what "you get 800 value chips" means...
But for a 5c/10c game with a $20 buy-in, I would use 5 (as a nickel), 25 (as a quarter), and 100 (as a $1) and 500 (as a $5 for rebuys, etc).
Avoid the 10s and 20s

I mean they get chips with combined value of 800. so a multiplcator of 40 (for example they get 8 chips with a value of 100, or 80 chips woth a value of 10)

no 50c? I have some or is it useless for 0.05/0.10?

Its cool to have various chip colors but I also think 50 is not necessary

So to sum up:
5, 25, 100, 500?

No need for 10s? Won't there be too many 5-chip chips in play then?

The link should have answered most questions already, but allow me to add one thought: If you have a very active 5/10 game, and your players like to straddle, then T20 chips might be a slightly better choice than T25s and reduce the amount of T5s needed, but they are less common and your players might not be used to seeing them.

I would also do as was already suggested and use a straight conversion between $ and chips - 1 cent equals 1 chip. If someone buys in for 20$, that's 2,000c, and they get 2,000 in chips. I believe this would be a lot easier for the everyone to keep track of their $-amounts.

Thanks, no straddle, and I habe exact the same conversion you mentioned (20 € buy in, 2000 chips value
