I will be moving to the Vancouver area later this week. I would like to find a few home games to maybe play in. I have participated in a few meetups in Ohio. I also would like to find out which is the best casino to deal at.

Welcome to the site! There are several home games and leagues that run in the lower mainland. Where abouts in the Vancouver area are you moving to?

@Racer96 could likely give you some insights into the casinos.

Welcome to Chilliwack! (and to PCF).

I'm hoping to host some games in the near future, so I'll get in touch via DM once that happens. Most likely tournaments and low stakes cash games (.25/.25 or .25/.50).

I also travel about 45-50 minutes to some home game leagues in Langley and Mission. They are mostly run by PCF members, so nice chips, good cards, real tables, etc. I'll let you know how to contact the hosts once you are settled.

The local casino only does "Ultimate Texas Hold'em", which isn't really poker. Closest casino with actual poker is in Langley, but it doesn't have great reviews. There are poker casinos in Coquitlam, New Westminster, Richmond and Vancouver, with mixed reviews. The Parq in Vancouver seems to have the highest reviews, but it is also the furthest drive from Chilliwack. There's a couple of tribal casinos near Seattle with poker, but those are about 2 hours and a border crossing away.

I know of a couple of local games in Chilliwack, and one in Abbotsford, but I don't play there much anymore. Again, once you are here and settled, DM me, and I can let you know how to get in touch with the hosts.

The Chilliwack Anavets (sort of like the Legion) has twice weekly tournaments on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons that are open to all, and there is a monthly $100 charity tournament about an hour away in Deroche (between Mission and Agassiz).

LotsOfChips,
Thank you so much for all of the info. Seems like there is a good variety of games up that way. Looking forward to some relaxing games.
I have looked at the info on many of the casinos up there looking for employment. Was hoping to deal poker but looking more like I will have to stay in table games. If I do deal table games was hoping for craps but doesn't look like too many of the casinos have craps.
I should be there by Sunday if all goes well. Probably late but we will see.

Grand Villa casino in Burnaby has poker, not sure if it has craps or not. Parq definitely has craps.

hey man!

If you don’t want to drive so far for home games, I run a small club in Mission. I’ve had monthly tourneys and I also run cash games.

Hit me up if interested. Welcome to the site.

Sad you wouldn’t mention my game. Life goes on

I don’t know if the casinos are hiring as frequently as they were when I was in the industry. Check the websites (great canadian gaming for Coquitlam and Cloverdale (Elements) and River Rock, wait, scratch that, I think it just sold to another group) , and Gateway Casinos for Cascades (Langley and Delta), Starlight (New Westminster) and Grand Villa (Burnaby).

Parq is it’s own entity.

A big difference with casinos here vs most US places, is that dealers here get paid based on how many games you can deal, and table games department is not separate from poker.

For most places, the games are:
Baccarat
Blackjack
Poker
Roulette
Craps

I think craps is currently only offered at River Rock, Grand Villa and Parq.

I still know some people at various locations.

Oh, and I’m also always looking to hire dealers for rental events, message me if you’re interested in that.

Thank you for the invite. Have to get settled and used to the time change in the evenings for me. And find time my wife will let me out.

Thank you for the info on the casinos. I checked out the one here in Chilliwack and was shocked at the hours for the casino and table games. I did visit the casino in Langley. Nice.

I would definitely be interested in dealing rental events. Have done it a few times in the past, always fun.

Yeah, it is hardly more than a glorified bingo parlor with slots. On the bright side, they do have child minding services available, so people can ignore their kids while they gamble away all of their money on the slots...

Hmm, nice isn't the first word that comes to mind. Check out Parq in Vancouver and River Rock in Richmond, they are reportedly both a step up from Langley.

Cool man!

I run mostly nooner games. Usually starting at noon or 1pm.

I add in some hot dogs, snacks, and soft drinks. So you can always still have your evenings to yourself, or with your sig other. I’m also a married man with a 9yr old at home, and we both work. It’s tough to find time to host.

Wish you a great journey here, with respect to chips, tables, and anything poker that might have brought you here. I’m also Chip and card crazed, and always here to lend an ear or two, to nerd out on the hobby.

Finally made it to Parq. Very nice casino. Good poker action also, both NLH and PLO.
