Don’t know if there is an official or semi official PCF Discord. would love to connect with some of you to play online, watch sports, game, or just voice chat!

Edit to add a reason I’m asking; from a well thought out reply I made.

To me this place is great! However I do believe that it would add a place for us to SPEAK to one another mainly. I understand that some may be opposed to breaking away from here but I don’t see it that way if PCF had a way for us to get in group calls or stream sports and whatnot to each other that would be great but we don’t have that. I was thinking of using it mostly as a place for us to gather and interact with our voices and some times webcams. It would be great to be able to watch and react to various content whether it be live poker, sports, play video games we enjoy together or hell even a Happy Hour Friday where everyone that would want to gets in a discord voice chat and hangs out over a few beers or something.

Yeah I looked through everything I could and couldn’t find anything but it seems like a no brainer to me. Didn’t know who to contact or anything like that so I just threw out the idea!

Because the time it takes to create a thread and write a post with "Rush B cyka" takes a lot longer than just saying it in voice chat on discord.

Live chat and screen sharing are my favorites Discord functions. Granted, I’m not 100% sure what I’d want to screen share on PCF, but ya never know. Nice to have a live room people could hop in whenever they wanted, we have eye game rolling on a screen share…who knows. I’m just being supportive, which I’m told occasionally is an area I could work on. 🤣🤣🤣

Hey man I appreciate you, just trying to find more ways to connect. Be cool to play online poker with you all or watch some sports.
 
Online poker…there ya go! See I knew there was stuff we could stream I hadn’t thought of as I’d been awake for like 14 seconds. lol Homestly, I love Discord. I use it for my poker group, my fantasy football group, an online game I’ve been playing with a group of guys for a decade now, it’s super convenient. Especially with friends from around the world to be able to voice chat for free with almost zero effort.

That’s the biggest part for me is how accessible it is to be able to voice chat and stream to each other from around the world. I think it’d be cool to “show and tell” with a camera on discord as well as hangout and play cards with each other or even get tips from veteran poker players while playing live as well as all the other aforementioned things.

Many of us have side chats on various text and voice platforms with PCF friends - that's always an option. An official PCF Discord might dilute or split use of the site itself, and I'm not sure that's what any of us want.

Absolutely understand that; I wouldn’t want to dilute the use of the site period and I can see how an Official PCF discord may do just that. I’m thankful I found this place. I guess a better question for me to have asked would have been if there were any discord users I could connect with that have created their own discord server.
 
I dunno, we supposed to walk around the house with headsets talking about chips now too. I love seeing you guys at meet-ups but between that and regular PCF, PMs, whatsapp/messenger groups and pokernow games, I think this just might be the final nail in some coffins of marriage around here lol
 
I thought of this a few months back as well, there would be more risk for scams and it would take a lot of time for the mods. I have some experience with discord and would be happy to help out with a server. As @Schmendr1ck points out some prefer signal and some WhatsApp. These three apps alone split us up. The organization on discord would be tedious and when everyone talks about different things all at once it would be wild. We do have several members that run online games and use discord to communicate.

I’ve spent a career in IT, and a lifetime of MMO‘s, from ICQ to slack and Webex to ventrilo, and team speak I don’t think an official PCF server would benefit the community.

If anyone had discord here I wouldn't mind adding them, But I see why people don't think it's the best Idea
 
Once you make friends I think we all have separate offline threads. I have a group text thread and a signal group thread, all with only PCFers. A massive collective discord would ultimately detract users from the PCF site.

Thread high-jack I love these, they are so fun - I still play DnD, when they shut down the Archeage servers I kinda quit MMOs, nothing holds like AA.

 
No reason not to start one. People aren't gonna stop posting on the board, and Discord could be handy for more real-time feedback with chip designs for example. Also help people collaborate.

I can see this from yalls perspective for sure. At this point it seems like if anyone has discord they could just DM me or whoever and we could exchange discord details and play games or whatever together that way.

I see where you are coming from with this but this boils down to weighing the risks for yourself. Seems like a lot of users here use signal or discord or WhatsApp which has also had data leaks.

I think this is the most bipartisan take I’ve seen; I appreciate it as well. At the end of the day I see how it could be a cluster and hard to moderate but not impossible and I also see how it could “take away” users from this forum. At the end of the day if someone someday decides to open a server I would happily join and interact with you all but for now I won’t press the issue. Seems to be a polarizing topic that I accidentally ignited just wanted to make connections lol

A lot of the members do. 15 posts in, there are still parts of the forum you don't have access to. Once you get 90 posts and 90 days, come join us over in the home game/meetup section. Don't rush, we'll be there.

If you're looking for feedback on a design, there are several ways to post and request it. Posting will help others and give you a wider response. I would give you this advice: pore over the media section where people post a lot of chip photos. After you've seen 100s of chips, you should start to look more closely at design elements.

There are posts on themes, and tons of design posts you can read, going back to 2015. If you haven't read the New Members Start Here post, I would suggest it.
