Lost a dear member of our community, allforcharity (16 Viewers)

We have a Poker Chip Hall Of Fame. I think we need a Poker Chip Forum Member Hall Of Fame. I'll let someone else who's knows how to set something like this up (@Irish maybe) but I nominate @allforcharity and suggest we name the award in his name.
Nice idea.

Would J5 be an appropriate co-inductee? They both contributed so much to the community in their own way.

Seems fitting somehow that they’re both Canadian.

We're throwing around the idea of putting on his 007 themed charity casino night in his honor. When we do, we'll likely post up a link for anyone would like to donate.

We are working on a memorial tournament, of sorts, at our meetup.
It's not going to be a poker tournament, but a Golf (the card game) tournament that can be played by all attendees in and amongst all the pokering.

100% of the prize pool will go to the winner's charity of choice to honor Berny.
(but of course there will be plenty of opportunity for prop bets on the side)
Once we have stress tested our rules we will post on our meetup thread.

I’d also would love to donate to his family. I won’t be able to attend a meetup. Love what you guys r doing nonetheless!!!

I think T_Chan's idea is a great way for all the community to come together (all be it remotely) in his honor.

Ours is just going to be our little tribute that we run when we open our doors.

This is a pretty easy game to learn, with a fair amount of luck involved, but also some strategy. You can play it with standard decks instead of buying the game.

https://www.amazon.com/The-Card-Game-of-Golf/dp/B000M0P2RE/

DM me if you want a screen shot of the rules and my idea for using standard decks.

Also, there is a free app that you can test play. It's a four-person game, but you could easily do foursomes in a shoot out format. 24 players play in six foursomes, best score in each foursome advance to round of 3 foursomes x 2. Best two scores in each flight of three foursomes advances to final round of four players. First place takes it all.

I have a soft place in my heart for this game. Golf was the first "real" card game I taught my kids with a standard deck. Plays two or more and it was great for their math and memory skill development. It's still our standby if we need to kill some time.

If anyone had any unfinished/pending transactions with allforcharity, please let me know. I've been in contact with the family and will be helping to sort out anything that needs to be sorted out.
Sending pm

If only there was a free app to test how the game plays...

Hearing this news breaks my heart. I saw others using the same avatar and was afraid of the news I’d find here. Berny was indeed one of the best of us. He was always welcoming and inviting by sharing his experience and giving advice to anyone in need. He will be sorely missed.

Just now finding out about this. How terribly sad... I had not had any close dealings with him, but his presence here on the forum was massive. He will be so greatly missed even by those like me that barely knew him. I can't imagine the impact on those of you who knew him well. All of you and his friends and family are in my prayers.

My heart is broken. Mr. Berny was very kind to me. I literally just spoke to him Monday. Trying to get him some chips he needed. The forum community has lost a beautiful person. Please post funeral or memorial service info please. Condolences to his family.

I heard about this over the weekend but just got back to PCF today. The news was sad and shocking.

I never had the pleasure to meet Berny in person and take a pot from him, unfortunately. However, we did a few transactions and had several conversations in the forum and in DMs. He was always kind and cared deeply about his charitable work. He was the kind of person that the world needs more of.

Felting these tomorrow for @allforcharity. If you have a CDI set get them in play! @Jeevansluck @Tonysquander

So sad to hear the news.
I never had the pleasure of meeting allforcharity & only had a few interactions with him on here but he was very welcoming when I joined the forum…
My heart goes out to his family & those who knew him. Sending prayers your way…
Rest in Peace

Damn, very sorry to hear this news. I had some really nice interactions and conversations with Berny. He seemed to be a good man. Cherish every minute, friends.

I hope you can find some fives quickly so your game can run smoothly ;)

As a proud new owner of a ‘98 set, I can’t wait to put them in play in @allforcharity honor.
He helped immensely building the set. Berny was a PCF HOF but more than just that, a charitable and friendly person. Those who were close to him must have been truly blessed.

I ran as good as you can in a 2-5 game. Even when I was a huge underdog all in pre I won w 99>JJ and somehow I had TWO straight flushes on back to back hands with 10-7 suited including the final flip.

RIP Berny, thanks for stopping by

Forgot to mention I even won w the 2-7 offsuit bounty hand…my bluff turned into a runner runner straight. Truly a night w @allforcharity

I know I am late to this thread but just noticing it now. My status on this forum is only high hand and still I know and have been blessed to get to know Berny. Long story short he ordered a rack storage system from me, not only did he support a new member and a new idea. He went on to give me some good feedback and he arranged to let another chipper combine his order with his in order to cutback on shipping cost! I wish I could have gotten to know him better but in my book a true legend.
RIP Berny

Only just saw this. What terrible news. I never met him in person, but I always noticed that his posts were both exceptionally well-informed and also exceptionally well-intentioned. (The two don't always go hand in hand.) He seemed like a really decent guy on top of being a dedicated chipper who contributed advice generously to this site.

Yep! That was me! As always, Berny has been a helpful friend, kind soul, and a chipping extraordinaire, ever since I joined this place in 2019. I got some of my first few Jack Detroit chips, as I had joined PCF one day after the initial Jack Detroit TCR sale.

He had great information, advice, and a friendly ear to offer me. I have lost touch with some of the local chippers here, as time and bad feelings can do that, but I never lost touch with Berny. He’s the nicest guy BY FAR. The presence on the site was surpassed in person. He always showed me respect and kindness.

I miss him a lot, and I am still trying to process the loss, and it could be any of us, we never know, and we all need to cherish our loved ones, hug them, and tell them we love them. I’m going to make a more concerted effort to do that, I’ll honor his memory this way.
