Morning all. So I have played poker/ table games at several casinos now trying to chase down the very feel of these exact chips. They are from the Hollywood Casino in Aurora IL. Specifically in the poker room as their chips at blackjack/roulette etc are not the same. What I like about them: the slight sheen, the way they almost "stick together" but then slide smoothly off one another when thrown in the pot,The slight slickness they have when rubbed together. Forgive me if this is an obvious answer as I'm still a pretty new chipper...but am I doomed to eventually have to buy a set of these or is there another manufacturer making a similar feeling option? Picture is for reference taken from Odd-Sock3471 on Reddit.

Bud jones is the actual manufacturer of these chips? Or they make a similar option?

Well GPI is the actual manufacturer of the Bud Jones line (having acquired the company, physical assets, and rights for production), but they don't sell to the public. Just like everything else under that corporate umbrella.

If they were Paulson chips I wasn't sure if I should tell him or not... 😉

They're a Bud Jones chip that has a metal slug in the center that's ridiculously flat/smooth, with a thin label over it. As a result, two chips touching create a mini vacuum that makes them 'stick' together, but not in an adhesive sense. My local cardroom has these and they drive me nuts... hard to pick up any number of chips without spilling one or two beneath it.

Bud Jones is the brand, which is owned by GPI / Angel... And not all Bud Jones chips share this quality, just one product in their lineup. Great weight, great individual feel, but the 'stickiness' drives me crazy.

They're plastic, but importantly are casino-grade plastic, unlike the cheapest options on Amazon. Sort of like commercial-grade furniture or cutlery in restaurants... they're not the same chairs and glasses as are sold at West Elm or Ikea. Not a value judgement of good or bad, just built more to a higher standard of durability for the wear and tear they'll face at a casino over literally decades.

Big Bud Jones fan in general, long history and a great product from them, even if they've been absorbed into the great gaming giant of the world.

Screenshots from a Bud Jones styles explainer below.

I may be wrong about the chips pictured having the brass center, but see screenshot for explainer. Canterbury is my local club, the yellow chips are the $2's that have been circulating forever.

Thanks to all for your answers. It looks as thought the V7 style/material is what i'm after. a lot of hate on these chips but i think, in my opinion of course, these were my first cash game chips i ever played with so with that they have a "prescription-strength feeling" that no other chips feel like, haha.

I love em. The S2s play better, but I won't sell my V7 set

I'm guessing someone here in Minnesota could harvest $2 Canterbury chips, the yellow ones shown in the screenshots, if you had any interest in those.

This listing is currently live from Israel, all V7's I think. I'm interested in the $500's, someone else wants some $1k's, but there's a good range of $1's $5's $25's and $100's there. Pricing at $1.60/chip. If you're interested that'd be great, the two of us haven't hit his minimum order size and you'd certainly hit that minimum if you wanted a full set.

Thanks for the offer. It looks like a set of cash game chips sold just 3 days before my post *sigh*. I'll get the funds up and hope a set goes for sale when I'm ready budget wise.
