Hey everyone,
A while back I bought the Majestic China Clay set from Apache, and honestly, I've been pretty disappointed. A huge chunk of the chips—especially the lower denominations like the 5¢ and 25¢—are super slippery and barely stack. Even some of the $1s and $5s are acting the same way. It’s been really frustrating because they just slide off each other with the slightest bump.

I made a post a while ago venting about this and mentioned that I probably should’ve gone with Tina ceramics instead. I also asked about sanding or oiling them and was told not to. But after some test runs, I went ahead and oiled them anyway, and that did help quite a bit with the overall feel.

Still, those slippery chips are driving me nuts. Has anyone actually tried lightly sanding them? Or found anything else that works? I’ve accepted the purchase at this point, but I’m just looking for a way to make them usable.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Rosin?

Get some ultra-fine sandpaper. I think I used 1500-grit. Hit both sides quickly, then wipe them with a damp cloth. Works like a charm.

Strange cause I don't have an issue with the majestics we play with.View attachment 1497727
My higher denomination chips don’t have nearly as much of a problem but I’m running a .5 -.10 game so I unfortunately have more lower denominations, and for some reason they are much worse in quality. My 5 dollar chips and 1 dollar chips are still pretty terrible for the most part though, only 30 percent of them don’t slide off each other.

I lightly sanded each side with some medium grit sandpaper. Night and day difference.

I have the same issue but with the purple 500. We use them for tournaments with 25, 100, 500 and 1000 and its only the purple chips. The other ones are totally good but if you look at a purple stack in the wrong way they slide all over the table.

No idea why that is, my thought was that they might have use some different chemicals for that specific color which made the chip way more smooth then the others but now that I read your story about different dinoms I have the feeling there might have been just a faulty production.

If you actually sanding them, interested to hear if you could improve the situation at all.
