Some new additions!

Funny, in the poor lighting and with my colorblindness I could barely tell the Emerald Casino had two colors of spots but with the phone color correction it’s so easy to see

Just hit the 2 barrel milestone on $25s* so here’s a little pic. Not a big green fan but these babies have really grown on me.

After a long day of chip cleaning, here’s my first time oiling! Nervous but I’ve ingested all the content on the subject I can find and here’s giving it a go! These babies are sparkling! Can’t wait to see these by daylight after they dry

They are definitely tougher to shuffle freshly oiled but I imagine that effect wears off after a bit of play.

Idk, very very early thoughts on a MT thing. .5/.25/$1. I have some months until scrown run, lots of time to think.

First, inspired by @louBdub, here’s this:

Which is a cool photo but that I don’t have an appropriate camera to really capture.

However, there was another reason behind this.

A couple months ago I picked up a great rack of THC blaze solids that I will be turning into 25¢ chips for the rat rod set. I originally had the idea of making a kind of generic rat rod label and then making a few variants with different city names so. While emailing with @Wifey, I explained this badly and she thought I meant something else which turned out to be a much better idea.

After laying out all the chips this way and giving them a good long stare, here’s a set of 20 of my favorite inlays from the bunch.

We’ve gotta sort out some more details but my hope is to be able to make tribute labels to these and have a rack of 5x 20 different frac labels from other chips in the set!!

I’m really excited about this idea and can’t wait to see what I can make come together with the help of the amazing @Wifey and @Gear!

BCC tournament set is the most recent addition from @CraigT78 which has stunning colors in person but given the curse won’t likely end up with me forever.

Loving where my collection is at right now. Several active projects with the constant RR and MT hunts and designing RR frac labels. A good mix of several different clays and some wonderful high end plastics.

If my Zens limit set doesn’t sell soon I won’t be too upset about it also having a long term home here.

Also still a lot to do with these. T-mold need oiling, HHR need cleaning and oiling, some MT still need cleaning and oiling. With the infrequency that I actually get a long block of time for this type of stuff it moves slowly which is nice. I like engaging with the chips and that the sets themselves are an ongoing project past acquisition.

I often oil while watching TV with the wife before bed and let them sit on paper towels overnight. The reveal the next morning is glorious!

Now a part of me wants 160x $25s and 40x $100s but A) that’s just a lot…. B) my games will likely never need that big a bank and C) others really craved these also.

Much progress with CPC color sample in hand. Really really liking the blurple 25¢. The goal is to make chips I like but also to make it feel like there is aesthetic continuity with the original chips. I think the others still have clear room for improvement.

I think the white 5¢ is actually closer to good than it appears in person because it’s hard to imagine the 314 spots with the sample chips the same size and overpowering white chip. Which is not how it’ll look when done

I’ve had the thought before that it would be an expensive and delicate process but producing a CPC sample set with base color chips with cutouts and inserts of all the colors. Maybe not for every single option but many of them. Would be very very cool

What is this photo from? What I’m imagining takes it a (potentially over-engineered) step further and has cutouts in the base chip.

You’re right that it would be great if CPC directly offered such a thing but they seem endlessly busy as is

The chip and inserts in the pic originated from Palm Gaming back when they were going to start making their own clays (with former Hispania equipment) but in the end never did.

More progress. Going to take some time tomorrow to shoot photos and look at the color samples of these in different lightings. I think I have something good coming together here. The MT $5, $25, and $100s have a very particular aesthetic to them. There's a kind of cold neutral thing going on but then also the shockingly bright pink on the $5s. Trying to evoke that same intersection of restraint and playfullness that I get from these.

The subtleties of the more conservative darker colors actually is more interesting and exciting than the loudness of just a bunch of brighter things.

Could wait until daylight to snap a better photo. Seeing (more than!!) a rack of these come together is amazing. Incredibly grateful to the chippers who have made these available to me. If I can get to 160 $25s and 40 $100s that would really be something.

I’m wary of overly extolling the virtues of these chips lest I create more competition for them — a problem I know I added to for others — but I can’t get over them. Every element of the color selections and inlay are perfect to me and everything about the TRK manufacturing, including the split spots, is truly beautiful in my eyes.

This is like a missed connections thing. I have a strong memory I discussed this chip with someone who mentioned they had only ever known of a single of it which was used for the Chipguide photo and I just noticed I have one. But I can’t possibly find that conversation back… was it a dream??
