Does the half and half Dunes 5 work here as a frac?

I know it can be hard to see in minds eye, but looking for feedback. I think it’s a match made in heaven, but as it’s a bit “out there” for normal standards, may get crucified. Lol that’s okay.

Love this line up possibility because it’s using almost every standard spot available (claw, tri, flower, etc.)

I’m enamored with Murdering and adding the Dunes 5 here, both because it fills a unique spot (one spot technically!) and the colors/unique chip fits the set. Yay or nay?

Hmmm I can see that now. Previously I see those as two 100% different shapes, like squares and triangles.
 
I don't think it is good for fracs everywhere, and you'll lower the value of the .25 chip imho - that aside, I think the IG 5s would be a better fit if you don't like yellow. I'm not a big fan of the yellow tiger 5s

I like the contrast of the .25 (secondary) and 1s

I'm not quite worried about other people's sets. Most people have the same 3 or 4 lineups and the majority of those will never see play. Lol not being a dick, but I'm just not concerned when 50% of people will be selling their Mint tigers still in 3 years.

As for the value, same thing. Trying not to be concerned with value, since murdering and customizing would make them a forever set that sees regular play. IG 5s are bearclaw and rhc.

IG 5s, an RHC chip?
 
I wonder about peoples feedback on the Dunes/$1s/$5s in a vacuum.

For all the nonsense I've heard about spot progression, I'm surprised noone else is beyond endeared with the NCV 5s as fracs. The primary and secondary fracs are nuts! Lol that's what you can do when a chipper is designing them. But historically, don't we love calm and simple fracs?

The Dunes do that while still being magical. While they technically have 1 spot, it's just a split chip with no spots. What a perfect frac. But......how can you have a green/yellow frac work? Can't be Vegas color set, can't be Cali colored set........

And boom. The blue grain $1s and radiant red $5s come to play. Great colors that don't need a green or yellow chip to complete the set, complimentary spots, not one repeated color or spot.

In a vacuum, I just don't see how the frac/1/5 aren't crazy unique together but also fit. Now, enter everyone knowing what the orignal denoms are and where they come from and scarcity, and it becomes hazy.
 
I'm prejudice, I don't like tri-moons, so for me it doesn't work. Plus, the progression seems like a regression.

Yeah I might be way off. I've never quite understood progression, has always felt like a made-up chipper thing to introduce a way of gauging aesthetics but without any tangible specifications.

Where do you see the regression from chip to chip? Are tri moons historically found on fracs or $1s only? Not the frac right? I feel like the NCV is the all time most perfect spot for a frac given that it's solid, yet not solid.

I'm not super knowledgeable about such things but the way I see it you have 3 spots of 2 colors on the 1, then the tri-moon is 3 spots of 1 color, albeit three different color spots. I'd be looking for a classic 4D14 there or something more.

Progression on matters if it matters to you. If not, then who cares. Sets that have a gradually increasing complex spot pattern are more appealing to me.

The Dunes are pretty wicked. Would certainly make an interesting frac in the right set.
 
If you're murdering what about something from the RPC lineup. Doesn't have to be from the Tigers, right?

I can see that. hoping to avoid the 4D14 as this is screaming not classis lol.

So originally I actually did think this was great progression, when taking into account how much real estate of the circumference of each chip was spotted.

Frac - half/half
$1 - 3 spot locations, 3 colors across chip
$5 - 3 spot locations in equal real estate of chip as the $1, also 3 colors across chip
$20 - double the previous chips, 6 spots 3 colors
$100 - double the previous chips, 12 spots 4 colors

Well, if you don't use the quarters I'm sure there's plenty of people that want those where you could turn around a trade for the 5s you want. Just a thought.
 
Oops, voted “no”, but meant to vote “line-up is whack”. Sorry, doesn’t work for me.

That Dunes chip is just a monster to work into anything. I just don’t think it works here either. But my biggest problem with the line-up is the $20. No go.

And… #SaveTheSecFracs!!

Honestly though, those 5k chips would make a KILLER $5.
 
We should have a design contest to see if anyone can come up with a line up where the Dunes 5 works great, even starting from scratch with all the other denoms. I just don’t know if it can be done (challenge!). It’s such a tough chip to work with!
 
I would like the 8v as the 5, the 5ks over the 2s - I don't like the green with the blue and pink on the dunes
 
Trying to be a different but yeah it may just make sense to let these fever dreams go lol.

The $1ks are my secret love in this anyways. Just love any chip with these spots. The only problem is if I disband, saying bye to those.
 
Dunes NCV are some of the most beautiful, but unusable chips we’ve seen to date. Can’t be a Cali frac. Can’t be a vegas frac. Too simple and odd for a Cali $5. Could combine the absurdities of both ends (yellow 1/green 1). Other than that they are already exactly as they should be. Unfortunately.
 
The way I see it those Oakland A's chips don't go with anything. Destined to be part of a Bay Area Sports set maybe but don't look good with those Tigers. But what do I know? I like the Warriors...

Feels to me they would be a fun $5 in a set with a solid frac and a super simple (or also solid) $1. Not sure quite how though, But feels like they should be usable somehow as is. Very unique chip.

Surprised noone has figured out a way to get them used in a set.
