Wondering what everyone uses to hold onto the cash during games. Do you have a safe or secured drop box? I play with close friends and usually put cash in the card boxes that we have in play, but wondering if there was something useful or a good way to hold onto the cash buy ins during play.

I use a cash box that I drilled 4 holes in the bottom so I could screw it to the dresser that I keep my chips in.

Plain ol' pencil bag. Works great, and can sit in my back pocket without being too intrusive during play.

Whatever envelope I find lying around. Normally I’ll stick it in the case with the chips - keeping the cash and unsold chips all together makes sense to me.

Registers and cash boxes are great if that’s how you want to do it. The only thing that turns me off is when the host jams the money in his own pocket. I don’t care for my money being in another player’s pocket. I realize that any decent host is not only going to pay out every penny, but also cover any shortage out of his own pocket, so maybe that’s where it actually belongs. But it just feels more comfortable to me if there’s more separation between the house and the guy playing at the table.
(And I realize that’s very silly, and it certainly doesn’t bother me THAT much, but if I get a twinge of that feeling, I’m sure there are other people who do too, so I feel like it’s worth mentioning.)

I agree too. I also keep with unsold chips, but have also seen it go into the hosts pocket and I dont like it.

I understand your point, but when I am host I am paying out no matter what so I usually keep it in my pockets since it's just the easiest for me. Plus it's not like in my case it's that much money.

I play with close friends
In this case, I would say it doesn't matter. So long as cash or electronic payment is done at the same time or before chips are exchanged, it will be easy to keep track as you just pay people out with their chip amounts. Personally, I either use an old cigar box or put the top of my bird cage over an empty surface and have people drop the cash through the top slit.

I have old wallet my grandfather used to carry. I got it renewed and serves me well
