What is the highest denomination chip you ever saw in your hands when playing any casino game?

I saw a single 5k chip in my hand when I bought in 2.5k for high-limit blackjack. I will never do it again, but it was worth the experience. Not to mention, wanting to see any live 5k chip was the motivation for this experience (not to make big money as I know gambling is a losing game). My goal is to harvest every current Vegas chip up to $25 while photographing high denomination chips.
  • Must be a live chip that is/was cashable at the time you saw it in your hands (no Indiana Grand or mass-released chips).
  • Chip value in US$. If you saw a foreign currency chip, please choose the nearest US$ chip value.
  • One choice only
  • Polls are anonymous
Please please post your chip pron and share your story!

Wow, that is an amazing thing to do at Aladdin back then!

Now, some chipper must've got them because I've seen $100k and $1m plaques for sale on feebay a few years ago.

I’ve had a $1K oversized orange Foxwoods chip in my stack at 5/10 a few times.

First time I bought in for $2K, super aggro table, I raised OPP with 46dd, 3 callers. Flop 357, binnnng bonnnnng. I lead out, get raised by LP. I reraise, folds around to him and he reraises. I tank for the appropriate amount of time and jam and he snap calls.

He also has 46. Super unlikely. I guess we’re chopping.

Then I notice he has 46ss and the flop came 3s-5s-7d. Fuuuuuuuck.

Turn 8, River K, both red and I’m like “whew!”.

Waiting for dealer to chop the pot and the other player says “wait” and goes into a little bag around his waist and pulls out 2 pumpkin chips. Dealer slides one of the pumpkins and some other chips over to me.

The turn was 8d, and the river was Kd.

Wheeeeeeeeee!!

I’ve seen up to the $25k at the Hardrock Tampa when watching some nosebleed baccarat. Like $5-10k a hand nosebleed baccarat. Also learned that if you go to the high limit room they will give you top shelf drinks and the same water you get in the private room at poker for free. They also have the single nicest public bathroom I’ve ever seen in my life. Complete with mouthwash and hygiene items next to the sink on a small silver platter.

Yes, I've seen dealers and players having $25k chips at Vegas high limit rooms like the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay. Not in my hands. Usually, the minimum is $100/hand and maybe I played like 5 minutes at most so I know what you're talking about. I did it because I wanted to see $1k chips that are not on the regular floor. What chips did you see in your hands there?

In case people don't know, Mandalay Bay has perks for chippers for playing big! Their chips are all oversized at the high limit room (except $1).

Casino floor: 39 mm
High limit room: all 43 mm (except $1 is 39 mm and $25k is 48 mm)

the greatest I have had in my hands has been 1000 euro chip (Saint Vincent casino)

I had these after coloring-up at punto-banco tables.

The only time I had a plaque in my hand was at San Marino casino, 1000 euro plaque, again at punto-banco table. I snapped a plaque's pic, but I sadly deleted it.

A couple of time I saw plaques for several euro thousands
Once in Monte Carlo, a player arrives at trente-et-quarante table with 1x 5000 and 1x 10000 euro plaques and asks for "smaller" denominations (100-200 euro jetons )
Another time in Venice: a lucky player got a 400 euro straight-up bet at french roulette, 14000 euro win... he was paid with a 10000 euro plaque and a "barrel" of 200 euro jetons (he left 400 euro tip o_O)

 I see mouth wash and hygiene products in bathrooms all the time. Mainly Sapphire and Treasures tho…..

Straight bet
I won a little at the El Cortez playing three card poker. When I colored up I asked for a $500 Chip. I was told they had to call upstairs to issue a $500 out :wow:
So you saw a flag at El Cortez? I know their 500s are white

When I was cashing in a flag at GN, they had to call the high limit pit to get it cashed.

$1000. I was at the Bellagio and cashing in my chips from a 5/10 NL game. In front of me was a chip runner cashing in three racks of $1k chips ($300K)!!! I have never been so close to that high of values chips. While waiting in line I chatted up the lady and she was pretty chill... Apparently there were several Asian high rollers in town and this was par for the course....lol

The big vegas poker rooms and sports books have safe deposit boxes full of players chips. By allowing the players to store chips in the boxes they avoid the troubles that come with cashing out over $10,000 in cash.

I'm philosophically opposed to large denomination chips. You shouldn't have to worry about that much money falling onto the floor and getting lost on the carpet.

big money should be big, yo
