I don't disagree. But having old accounts that are essentially abandoned without MFA enabled is a problem for a number of reasons. How long can an account remain without activity before it is automatically closed?
Re-activate with "forgot password" option or just a reactivation e-mail? SOP. The scammers usually do not have access to the e-mail as well.

Most have probably noticed that Tommy has implemented the 2 step authentication now. If you had already activated that you may not have noticed, but now everyone has to do it.

I would like to hear what others think (especially anyone that is employed in IT security) but I think this should stop the sort of breach that happened here

I recall there being a big discussion on this back when Tommy first implemented the optional 2FA. It seems we have a couple tech people in here who were very supportive of the approach. But I also remember there weren’t any better ideas necessarily. It was a lengthy discussion. I just forget which thread.

I work in IT for the government. I can tell you all sites that are concerned with security use some type of 2FA. Nobody concerned with security relies on just a username and password. Tommy should require 2FA for all accounts to protect us from the scammers.

Good to hear from someone working in IT. Tommy has just now implemented this so it is done NOW

For what it’s worth, and I have not read the last few pages of this thread, but for what it’s worth I tried to log on like 5 times today and gave up. Came back few hours later to try again. I understand we have to do something but this will significantly reduce my access/use of the site I’m afraid… hopefully just a temporary measure.

Not fully sure I understand your reasoning here. Once I have an authenticator installed, like Google Authenticator, or whatever you choose to generate the numbers, it's really just as simple as pressing and holding on the profile for PCF within the authenticator which will copy those numbers to the clipboard, then pasting into them into the login screen when prompted for those numbers. It takes literal seconds. Once that is done I am pretty sure you can click the checkbox to trust that device for 30 days and stay logged in. So basically I am only re-prompted to enter the 2FA every 30 days. It's my understanding that any new device trying to log into PCF will require a new 2FA, which is obviously smart. I have my computer and my phone both setup this way.

Correct, every 30 days you need to reverify which takes about 10-20 seconds (for each device). If that’s not what’s happening with anyone then there’s an issue somewhere.

Heard a couple people mentioning not being able to log in for a while and then being able to later. Hopefully just the "growing pains" of enabling 2FA and it'll settle back into the quite straight-forward and relatively easy process that people are describing when it's working properly.

I enabled 2FA last week and so far so good. *knock on wood* Logged in on my computer no problem, checked the 30 day box, and haven't been prompted since. On my phone I had to log in a few times over the first day or two despite checking the 30 day box, but seems to be good now.

Has anyone contacted law enforcement? I get that the amounts involved in the various scams have been, in the grand scheme of things, pretty low. But law enforcement takes hacking efforts pretty seriously, in my experience. It also seems there’s a lot of evidence pointing to the same person as the perpetrator of the schemes.

Not looking for details here. Just curious. Don’t know if anything short of jail is going to stop this piece of crap.

2FA is now enabled.
I’m sorry this happened, I’m just now seeing all of this. I’ve had nothing but great experiences here, both buying and selling and hate the fact that my name has now been dragged through the s**t.

I hope that this gets worked out and the scammer finds some measure of justice…doubtful but I’m hopeful. Honesty and integrity are principles I live and work by.

I’m not sure exactly how this happened but my apologies just the same.

They wont do nothin well maybe times have changed I got scammed a couple times back in the day n they looked at me like I was stupid

If it had stayed with just scamming, I agree. But hacking accounts takes things to a different level.

2-step!

2FA is awesome - been using it for everything available for years.

Also way better off to have those protections on sites like this! Kinda like how casino's should have someone at the door ready to stop an insane person from entering. Just that little extra step, ya know.

I don't understand... what is "not logical" or "hard to understand" by saying that?

Wouldn't it make sense to be more secure?

(Just another PCF member on my ass. Soon he'll be asking for proof and calling me a piece of shit. How it always happens. Then I'm the one who "needs a life" lmfao)

Я: А у вас будет больше этих чипов или чипов Джека Цинциннати на продажу? Lmk спасибо

Scammer: Есть еще один из того же набора. ты покупаешь

Я: Что у вас на продажу lmk

Мошенник:
из того же набора

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/horseshoe-cleveland-500.83806/

Scammer: Хорошо, сэр. Я принимаю оплату через Zelle или Venmo

Я: Значит, у вас есть еще 180 фишек на продажу?

Мошенник: Да, я их подготовлю и пришлю.

Я знал, что что-то не так, тогда я подумал о картинке и всем остальном и нажал [USER = 9514] @Nanook [/ USER]

Google Translate:

"Listen to me, this sounds like a great idea. For the seller to send the buyer a few additional photos with chips upon request (before sending money). This may well become the norm. (for example, a fresh newspaper)".
