Ugh. This entire situation is horrible. I don't know how easy it would be to scan for accounts that do not have MFA enabled and disable them by default. That may be the only way forward...make MFA mandatory for all accounts as of a specific date.

I do have concerns about the posts regarding proxies being a potential red flag. I don't trust public wifi spots as a rule, so I normally connect via a VPN if I'm connecting via public wifi or if my phone is using data roaming.

I know it's easy for me to say, because I'm not competing for 95% of the chips that are sold these days. But there's another way out - don't rush-buy. Like, it's that simple - people aren't gonna get conned by hackers pretending to be chippers, if they actually engage these bastards in conversation.

Well I engaged with plenty conversations with Poppin and it didn’t help. I get it’s not bullet proof but I guess it could help

I don't disagree. But having old accounts that are essentially abandoned without MFA enabled is a problem for a number of reasons. How long can an account remain without activity before it is automatically closed?

Fair point. Different kind of scam. I’m not sure why people are assuming poppin is our only enemy - seems pretty unlikely to me. But whatever, you’re right, we have to be vigilant for different kinds of scammers.

I don't want to give away too much info, but I can tell you that after looking at the # of failed logins in the last 15 mins, this is a brute force attack on accts using weak passwords.

Possibly unrelated but last week I was blocked from logging in with my cell phone fri-sun then it suddenly worked again. Now I am having issues logging in at all on a computer....the website just shows as if it's down on my end. I am currently at work and my password no longer works there.

I am going to reset my password if I can using my cell phone. Hopefully there are no sales ads in my name. I have certainly bought a bunch of stuff in the last few weeks (lots of HSI's) and those are real purchases by me so dont be afraid sellers.....but if there is a sales ad from me over xmas PM me first to confirm as I have no plans to sell chips in the near future.

perhaps the sales forum should be invisible to non approved members.
Www.canaduangunnutz.com has a sales forum but is only accessible when a member is approved by the moderators....nobody else can see it. this may ad small a layer of security from prying eyes seeing chips posted for multiple thousands of temptations.

Probably sounds f*cked to even say this, but he/she might be doing this all over other forums as well...

Guitars, electronics, etc... who knows...
if they are doing it as a professional means of income this is very likely. Online/digital/telephone crime must be very profitable or simply a sign of the economic times. In Ontario Canada I get on average 2-5 calls per week that are obvious to semi fraudulent ranging to voice messages that claim I will be arrested for non-tax payment, in arrears of billing with xyz companies and even mock bank emails with parallel sites that look essentially the same designed to phish usenames and passwords of unsuspected users that follow direct links...

In canada you an never
-press 1 when ever prompted by a telephone call, it is 99.99% a scam
-never provide account/financial details when XYZ company calls you to report a billing discrepancy this is possibly a scam hang up and call the real company to follow up instead
-The air duct cleaning is sometimes actually quite cheap and affordable but they may also be surveilling your home for a later break and enter....
-If you won a contest you do not remember the item is not "free" and you did not win anything.....thrown that contest card away or hang up on the caller....
