@Tommy I would seriously look into how the dark net verifies people. I know most members here will be against it, but as far as I'm aware having users generate a PGP encryption key for themselves and then use it as a 2FA system to ensure the legitimacy of the user before posting. The way it would work best is if prior to making a classifieds post, in the section where you check all the boxes to confirm the rules, PCF has a PGP encrypted string of numbers and letters. This can only be decrypted using the users PGP key (not visible to anyone else). In order to post the ad the user must decrypt the string of letters and numbers and paste it confirming they decrypted it and received the message. This would effectively make it impossible for a hacker to make fraudulent classified ads. I know it would be hard, but it would stop the problem.

I usually am a fan og prompt payments, but maybe a new norm among legit sellers to accept a fair amount of time before making payments. Like 24hs. Would be a bit annoying, but it seems a little bit of time would have helped avoid several of the recent scams.
I’d say if they’re pushy and demanding immediate payment/will just sell to whoever pays first, it’s a YUGE red flag

just relogged into my account like 4 diff times to get that damn 30 days thing off lol
The last time I logged in, I checked the 30-day box.

Just now, I logged off three times and logged back in without 2FA. I guess I have to wait some period of time less than 30 days and then uncheck the box.

Is that right, @Tommy?

Wow this really sucks. Sorry to hear this bs happened to someone… again.

Maybe a simple solution is to make sure each seller verifies their own PayPal ahead of time (through Tommy or one of the mods?) before they can sell? That way if an account is hacked, they can’t change to their own PayPal?

In hindsight, maybe not so simple

Even 1 hour would have done it in this case

The failed login attempts 40min ago for my account definitely were not me.

2F enabled (didn’t even realize that was an option!)
Confirmed no shady IPs on your account.

You can disable 2FA and re-enable it if you want and then leave it unchecked. Unless someone has your phone, I think you'll be fine with the 30 day.

@Tommy If we leave the 30 days on, and someone tries to hack from somewhere else (i.e., from a different computer or phone) it will stop them?

And don't forget to save the new one-time use backup codes.
