if you are referring to the $500s, the primaries are slightly used and the secondaries are mint condition
thanks.

I‘m strongly considering putting together a tournament set of Jacks, using the white 1’s as 1000 and the red 5’s as 5000. The incorrect denomination won’t bother me in the least, and it seems like an economical way to break into a set of casino chips.

@TheChipRoom , hey jim, is there a max limit on the Maj Star chips by percentage, and will that limit expire after an hour, like other sales before ?
No maximum number of chips on the Majestic Star, as long as you comply with the percentages. No percentages after the 1st hour.

ATTENTION: We will combine multiple orders and refund any additional shipping. Please make sure your address is correct in PayPal. It is very difficult to track and make changes with all of the orders. Reminder, you cannot use multiple purchases to hit your percentages. Each order is evaluated on it's own for percentages. Anyone who violates the percentages or maximums, will have their order refunded, no exceptions.

Maybe a stupid question since I'm still learning about chipping so bear with me haha, but would it be possible to murder those Majestic tourney/low stakes chips without milling and still get a good outcome? I wouldn't mind relabeling those if that's the case..

I think the total number of chips you can buy is unlimited, BUT you must spread out the number of chips you buy throughout the different denominations.

For example, if you buy only 100 chips... then (working backwards with the highest face value chips first)
  • 5 chips can be the 5k
  • 5 chips can be 1K
  • 10 chips can be the 500s
  • 20 chips can be the 100s
  • 30 chips can be the 25s
  • 30 more chips can be the 5s
And that would be 100 chips buying the highest denominations you can. If you wanted to buy 10,000 chips, just adjust the quantities accordingly.

And that's my interpretation of Jim's limits.... which only apply for one hour. I have no idea if I'm right or not. That's just what I interpret from the OP.
If you stay within the giving % (FOR EACH ORDER) then you are good.
You don't NEED to order all denoms.

40 $1
40 $5
20 $100

The above is also a correct order

Need a higher quality pic of the $1k to try to determine the colour. Not pumpkin, but orange or blaze?

You should refund the orders less a 12% douchebag restocking fee.

Inlays can be murdered yes. You don’t need to remove the inlay though you can put them on top. “Murder” is a very time consuming process that usually is reserved for ballers buying expensive chips / paying others to do it but you can of course do it. You need an exacto knife, a pick and some non acetone chemical to loosen the sticker underneath the laminate.

I worked for 20 years in the signage and graphics industry. When we had to remove decals from a vehicle or acrylic sign the easiest method was using a jiffy steamer. We would hold it over the decal and let the steam penetrate and it would usually come off adhesive and all. the only time it didnt was RVs that were 20-30 years in the sun and one side was baked in. I'm sure you could use other steamers though.

I don’t consider myself a baller, just someone who sees another vision. I typically don’t spend a lot of money on chips and usually do the murdering myself as I enjoy it.

Milling doesn’t equal Murder.

High temperatures will warp chips

This may be a dangerous process, as clay chips are very sensitive to higher temperatures

Where is that photo from years ago where someone held a chip over steam with needle-nose pliers….and the pliers left a clear indentation in the chip because it became so soft?

edit: found it.

the heat of the steam will warp your chips.....only issue

Buying a set of generic mass produced chips would be more expensive and the second you open the package it loses a quarter to a half of its resale value whereas Historically Chip room sale chips almost never sell for less than the sale price and offer sell for more.
This right here. My home game (travelling hosts, anywhere from 8 - 16 players, one or two tables) started with my dice chips. Then I added an extra set. After a year I picked up some used Milanos. About 18 months later I had assembled a set off the Horseshoe Cincinnati and labelled over them. The 1000 dice chips collect dust in my basement. I think my Milanos are broken into three sets sitting at people's houses as I always forget to get them back and then realize I have no need for them back. I'd have spent half as much money if I just got the Horseshoes to start and would have played on those chips for an extra 18 months.

Back to this thread - I plan on picking up a couple racks of Jack $5s to make a "Five Year" anniversary chip to mix in with the HS Cincy chips. Yes, different spot pattern, but justified as the two casinos were the same property just rebranded.

Also not correct! The Jerry's Nugget $1s in near mint condition sell @$4 a chip, and good luck getting them even at that price, and definitely not blue.

I would say those are a close second or on par with CC, followed by Paris, Boulder Station, Strat... then maybe the Blue Solid Flamingo $1, but I agree with @Thomacetti all THC and not relevant here.

What is relevant is that a White work horse chip gets real dirty, real fast! If you like a white $1 knock your socks off, nothing wrong with them other that definitely more effort to clean and plan to have to clean them again every 8 - 10 games if you have OCD about dirty chips! We have multiple sets with white $1 chips, but I definitely prefer Blue if possible.
at four bucks a pop, I'll go into the hood and come out with some sharp chips for you.

interesting didn't realize that. We usually

I really like the Milanos

Yes - I did this with my Horseshoes and Gear Labels. Haven't lost a label in three years of play and the labels don't stick stick up over the recess. I used non-laminated labels and the work fine and have more than adequate survivability., I even let one soak in a pint of beer for 15 minutes then tried to scrape it off with my fingernail without success. EDIT for clarity: I stuck the labels directly over the existing inlay, did not remove the existing inlay.

Do the Jacks have a hole drilled in them (25 and up?)

Also is this a pretty decent breakdown of chips for just cash game play (low stakes)? A little new to owning them myself and hosting games.

Yep that's correct, I just worked out this exact breakdown for 100 chips 2 minutes before I saw your post lol

Chipguide is very often wrong in colors, but who knows. Looks undeniably blurple in the first pic to me, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something else either
