So, I bought a bunch of these to house the singles that I definitely don't collect and like a total n00b, I put all the halves together to conserve space and to make sure I didn't lose any of them. Now, I'm driving myself insane each time I have to open one up to put a chip in. Does anyone have any tips or pointers for how to open these more easily or should I just expect a struggle from here on out?

My fingers and my nerves thank you in advance for any advice!

Use a utility knife to carefully pry around the edge. Don't focus on one spot; try to pry the knife in all around the edge of the case. Go slow and be patient because it's easy to scratch the airtite with the blade. Maybe someone else has a better tip.

If you're constantly replacing singles, fwiw the airtites will loosen over time

I have fingernails, generally I apply pressure to the center of the sealed capper and it allows just enough give for me to get a fingernail under the edge and break it loose. Utility knife does the same thing

For the record... I do NOT have fingernails and often Brie gets upset that she can't get them open and gives them to me! A sharp thin blade does the trick every time! As said above don't focus on one spot, it will be Butt Hole tight most of the way around.. but there is ALWAYS a spot that can fit a blade in between. Otherwise I recommend a 3 pound hammer.

Come on now. Fire is dangerous.

Just use a jackhammer. Much safer.
Steam roller also works well

Cool, thank you. I don't have nails long enough (ew) and I was hoping to avoid using any type of pointy sharp things but it feels like there's not another answer. I did just use a utility knife and was able to pry open 4 of them in about 5 minutes, so that beats my going average by about 6 hours and 55 minutes.

I full expect to update this thread at some point about slicing a finger off. Pray for me.

I hope you guys are laughing at the 3 pound hammer comment and not "Butt Hole tight" that is absolutely in the redneck dictionary of "craftsmen terms" along with "RHC" "flatter than piss on a plate" and "f**k it, just caulk it... caulk hides everything!"

And don't forget every single one of my guys favorite lines "can't see it from my house!"

Damn it "RCH" why does my phone autocorrect redneck terms... smart my ass!!

This method is worked pretty well for me. Springs right open and it’s probably not something you’ve stumbled on yet.

I usually take the airtite and cup in my palm of my left hand. Give some room between the bottom of the airtite and your palm, maybe 1/4”.

The airtites have a very small plastic nub on the edge where they were separated from other airtites in manufacturing. Find this small nub and point that to your wrist.

Now raise your left hand slightly below eye level so that you can see the entire top surface of the airtite.

Gently take your right hand and ball it into a fist, and punch the airtite as hard as you can.

Should be open after that.

There should be a little nipple where the plastic came off the mold. Rub your finger around the rim to the nipple, slide what bit of a nail you have and apply pressure.

Yes. I know that all reads dirty. Go take a cold shower and try it out.

I have a dull-ish knife that I use mainly for yardwork that I use to slide between the two halves of the AirTite. I just give the blade a little twist to pry the two halves apart. I can usually get them from there, but a second twist sometimes is necessary.

The dull blade is less likely to scratch the AirTite (or puncture your hand if you slip!!).

I didn't help matters here, but the double and triple-entendre in the suggestions ca fill a page in the out of context thread alone! :ROFLMAO:

I'm not positive... but I think the Jack Chop would also help here

I do realize this is about a week late but an absolute classic... and I think you can still get the free glow stick!!

Also pretty sure this is @ReallyGoodUsername or @72o brother.
