Tourney caesars poker rooms during the wsop (1 Viewer)

I never liked the fact that Harrah's let Caesars take over the company and operations. I understand why they did because of brand recognition and so forth, but the executive team and CEO (Gary Loveman) at Harrah's were top-notch and really cared about their employees. I was on the transition team when the two companies were merging and the caesars team vision did not mesh well with ours. So, this situation doesn't surprise me. I knew a lot of dealers that hated it when Caesars took full control of the WSOP.
 
Flamingo is running a $111,000 player appreciation tourney giving away WSOP tickets. Usually the jackpot drop is suspended if they are closing down because every dollar collected is supposed to go back to the players, so at some point they have to stop collecting it.

Shame if they shut down during WSOP. I remember the day(s) of the Colossus tourney, every cash table in Vegas was full of busted out tourney players and lists were 40+ deep. It was nuts.

Also during the WSOP there is enough cash game action that $1-1 PLO runs at the Flamingo. Juicy game.

My favorite PLO game mid strip that week. Insane juicy.
 
Back East the MGM Springfield and Encore Boston both stopped their poker rooms (the latter being large) with no plans to reopen.

I’m increasingly concerned that poker rooms are going to be much more scarce as operators try to squeeze as much money per square foot out of their properties as possible.

Slot Machines don't require a salary. But they don't live up to having great dealers at the tables. That was one of the main reasons why I would go to specific card/poker rooms. If the dealers and floor managers were top-notch, I knew I was going to have a great time win or lose.

Yep. We are basically just another amenity in the casino.

The way I read it is they are temporarily closing for the WSOP. We will see if they open back up but I would not worry about it too much. There are plenty of places to play poker in Vegas. As far as the chips going up in value. LOL they still cost $1 at the cage!

Closing so the dealers can work the WSOP.
 
My guess was this was because of dealer shortage issues, and this would alleviate that. Whatever excess dealers they had, could deal cash in between tournament needs at the Rio.

Yes, that is the reason they are temporarily closed. I do not think we have to worry about the cost of the current chips going up in value but then again many will pay dearly for them or some list them at a high price. I think the last time IO sold a rack of flamingo with no spots I harvested them for a member. I charged them $120 which was the cost of the chips with tip! I know my spotted birds have gone way up but I do not think any will be leaving anytime soon!
