Ok friends, just need some fair market values for some mint CDIs. I just bought a poker table from a guy and he Mentioned he has some “super nice chips” too. So I asked he said they are Paulson. I told him I might be interested. Well as it turns out he has CDIs. From the pictures they look really good but not sure what they are actually worth. I don’t want to screw the guy over and offer $12 lol. The break down is,

200 $25
101 $100
51 $500
50 $1000

Anyway what is a fair offer?

Looks like the breakdown is:

200 x 25
161 x $100
101 x $500
51 x $1000

Those are CDI 05s, the less valuable cousin of the 98s. If they’re in good condition the $25s and $100s are usually $2.50-$3 a chip. $500 and $1000 denoms are less common and can go for about $4 a chip. I know some folks on here are looking for the $100s. Maybe @RivieraDanny and somebody else.

Do some searches for recent sales here. These are referred to as cdi 05.

Off the top of my head I would say about $3/chip. I would personally not pay that, but I believe many people would. The 1k chips would probably fetch more.

@colter ripton is looking for the $100s I think?

It sounds like you're seeking advice on how to negotiate.

I'd ask a few more questions to see what you can learn. We know these were sold to the public until around 2015. I'd ask if the seller bought them new or acquired them some other way. Maybe they were given to him?

If he bought them new, he probably paid around $6-700 for the set.

In most situations, it's advantageous to make the first offer in a negotiation. But in this spot, you might do better just casually asking what he wants for them. He may throw out a ridiculously low number that you can just say 'sure that sounds reasonable'.

Concern about 'screwing the guy over' isn't really relevant here. If both sides agree to the terms of the sale without any underhandedness that's all that matters. Good luck!

Ya he googled them and now he has given me a price range of 8-9 dollars a chip. I think he is thinking they are the 98 CDIs which I guess are worth a whole bunch more lol. I was really just looking for a fair offer so I wouldn’t over pay lol. But as it turns out, he’s wants WAY too much money for them and I’m no longer interested.

No CDI is $8 a chip other than the $1k, just have him look @ eBay for completed sales. The 98 set is $4-$5 a chip max.

Maybe for used $1's, but for any other cash or tournament denoms except for the $25's, not anymore...

These are the last racks to go on eBay, usually bringing the highest prices. There was one outlier I think, the last rack of $5s had went for $600.

That's a "good" price for the $5's. Just a week before, two racks went for over $6/chip. Those that have the chips are selling there and not here because anyone trying to sell those here for those prices are going to get laughed off of here.

The $100's are over $500/rack, and the $1's and $25's came in at just about current value. $5's, fracs, $500's all easily go for over $6/chip now. Authentic $1k's are made of unobtanium now. I murdered FLV's and made my own :ninja:

The eBay post of recent sales just showed $3-$5 a chip lol. One time the $5s went for $6. Just giving the guy ammo to laugh at the $8 request. I think you and I are disagreeing about less than a dollar.

@Windwalker

But yeah, we're just quibbling over semantics at the moment. The market is self regulating and coming back to earth a bit.

Curious what the $500s would go for. Haven’t seen those in awhile.
