One day you guys should explain why you don’t ship out of the conus to the rest of us. There’s really no risk to you hey. ;)
I have occasionally shipped out of the US. It is more work and risk to do this. You have to fill out a customs form and declare the goods (and lie if you don't want import duties to be applied). You also have to provide your contact information, and in my case I have to drive to the post office instead of drop it off as I often need help or confirmation on how the form should be filled out. It is much more work than simply hitting print and throwing in a USPS drop box.

So does that mean you guys would change your mind if I did it through my FedEx account? I’ve done that with a couple of guys where they cost me a bit more money but I just set up a shipment through my account printed it all up and did all the work on my end.

I would definitely refuse to lie on a customs form though, I wouldn’t refuse to ship to the rest of us based on that.

If you can make it just as easy as domestic shipping and assume all liability then I think most people would be more than willing to do it. I.E if a label can simply be printed and the package can be dropped off in a nearby drop box that would be the ideal case. Nobody wants to provide contact information or be contacted by customs to explain the package. We also don't want to fill out extra information or have to ask a postal employee how to complete a form or risk the package being held up or lost and be responsible for the contents.

it’s for sure more work and I can understand why sellers prefer not doing international but couldn’t you just add $10 to shipping to compensate?

I shipped to Canada for the first time using ups. It wasn’t that big of a deal. I just had to fill out some customs forms which took 5 minutes and the buyer paid the extra postage. Now just hoping it gets there!

Sure you can add $10 to compensate if that is worth it to you to cover the added effort. I am not making excuses as I have shipped internationally on a few occasions when people request it. I was just explaining to JScott why people don't want to ship internationally, since that is what he asked. For me, it is really quite a bit of extra work, time and driving and $10 does not even come close to covering the added effort/time for me.
