Hahah kinda. Second table died, this was pretty late when I took the pic. I did manage to score a pic of my chipstack. As usual, terrible chips with zero security.

Generally curious if chip security is ever brought up in these games or if you have heard of chips being slipped in?

I mean, I did play with dice chips for years and it never occurred to me how easy it would be to slip in some bonus chips for myself but just seems at these stakes there needs to be some awareness.

Chip security?

Get caught slipping in a counterfeit once, never get invited back.

Do you really need another reason not to cheat?

I haven’t. But very few people at these games even think about chips. I know I didn’t, before PCF.

A friend of mine hosts a $5/10 NLHE game at his house (w/dealer & rake). When I asked him about "chip security" (he uses straight up Milanos from Apache) he says, "I wear my .45 and a couple of the regulars are cops, so there are usually at least 2 guns". I try to explain about people just buying the chips and sneaking them into the game...

His eyes get all big, and he generally looks concerned, so he asks "how do I stop that". I said full custom chips, maybe some ceramics or custom labeled China clays". He asks how much, I tell him maybe a buck a chip, he replies "f' that".

Makes hundreds a night from the rake, wont spend a buck a chip.

I'd casually mention that the only safe person carrying a gun to a poker game had better sure as hell train regularly with that pistol, drawing it from a seated position, and hitting a target with an innocent on either side.

Then I would mention, that training costs about a the same as a ceramic chip each time he pulls the trigger.

If I didn't communicate it effectively, the purpose of the firearms was not for use on the players but for defense against any attempted home invasions by stickup crews. I've personally never been robbed at gun point in a card game, but card games I have played in have been held up.

Thankfully, I have a local casino now to play at but I still leave my chips in my box and take various routes home from the casino. Everyone thinks it can't happen to them until it does.

They didn’t allow photos at the table, but I snuck in a quick shot while coming back from the restroom.

I guess they were encouraging people to play small pairs:D

I’ll head over around 9:30 tonight and report back. The game is $10/$25 NLH, and they even sent over the dinner menu for tonight.

Can't remember either the number of the US Marines' Division or the name of the commanding General, being stranded at Guadalcanal back in Autumn 1942, but I can clearly remember the General's agonising radio dispatch:
"Rations will suffice for the men only for two weeks more maximum, with utterly disgusting Japanese food taken into account, also"

That's all very scary. I certainly don't want to be the victim of a stickup crew at a home game, but I'm not sure I want to be sitting there at the table when the host starts the shooting, either.
I'm glad we play for quarters.

Happened here actually like 15 years ago. One of the larger hidden games in the city got robbed. They had a camera system. Funny part is they had two new players lose there ass 3 hours before wearing the exact same clothes....

It wasn't a hard case to crack.

We 've got a huge problem here, in Greece.
Only truly legal and secure game is at the casino, which, in the case of Athens, is on the top of a mountain, some 20+ winding miles from anybody's home, offering minimum stakes of 1/2E (multiply by 3, salaries-wise, to get the feel on the average American pocket, so $3/6 NLHE).
There are some cardrooms openly advertised on the internet, offering stakes as low as .50/.50E, which appear to be legal, till the deal breaks, among the criminal who runs them and the Police Chief.
So, there is ample room for un-raked lower stakes home games, but, as the host, you should be mindful if this is going to be still a home game or a mild low-stakes underground game (the Police would never bother for un-raked games offering no credit; petty or organised criminals getting in the know might be the issue).

Is there an update on the banana pudding? Did it have 'Nilla wafers in it?

I didn’t try it, sadly.

I did meet a dude at the game who has been texting me incessantly to go to his game tonight. His latest incentive via text was too good not to share. :ROFLMAO:

Spoiler: I didn’t respond. Have dinner with my nephew and his fiancé tonight, so the evening promises to be a lot more wholesome.

Don't they realise you could hire her yourself if that was important?

.......... Sorry, but it's odd to say you hired a woman for someone for a poker game. Maybe I'm a hick from Idaho, but that's just kinda gross to me.

Nothing against WW. More the way it's being offered and portrayed. That dude would be getting a serious "fuck off" if it was to me.
