Hello to all!!!

I joined the forum about a week ago, and must say that so far so good. I joined with the intent of learning more about my set of Paulson chips, and was more than pleased to find that many of the members are helpful and knowledgable when it comes to poker chips!! I come to you from CT, home of two of the largest casinos in the United States.

However, if I can be honest, I enjoy dabbling in local games more than the casino poker games sometimes. I feel that especially around my area, the action at the local poker games is better than that you can find at the casinos. The 1/2 NL locally seems to play more like 2/5 NL... So I can get my juices flowing saving the drive :)

Welcome to PCF!

Action at local poker games in New England? I'm shocked. My (rather limited) experience is that New Englanders are nit-tastic.

Connecticut, yeah, that's exactly the CT I thought you meant... :D lol

Welcome to the forum!!

Wish I had the same luck as you do about home games, most people around here play .50/1 like .15/.25. All though I probably just don't know the right people.

Welcome. Great forum here, awesome people.

However, your first post failed to contain pics of this set of Paulson chips you referenced...

The Paulson set referenced in my post. I posted on another board on this forum with this picture earlier last week, but here it is!!! It is also up on eBay (someone was nice enough to post a link on the Classified section!! Thanks!!)

I'd say I'm lucky to have such good action in nitty New England. The casinos are full of them, but luckily there's a lot of action junkies in the area who like to like to shoot it!!!

Very Nice Set... You're selling them? What are you replacing them with? I mean, this is a great resource for folks wanting to know the value of their existing sets, etc... And no one will fault you for taking us up on our chip knowledge. However, we'd rather you stayed a while. Addiction loves company! We're all chip addicts here, lol.

Welcome to the forum! Lots of enablers here to keep your chip-addiction alive and healthy.

Trihonda, I'll be here for a while!! I'm only replacing the set because I need more red chips for my set and they have been discontinued!! I'm selling them, got an asking price of 2500 on eBay.

I am replacing them with the 14g Kings casino chips I found online.

Jambine, explain before I make this decision.
You have a super nice set of compression molded clay chips (Paulson). The Kings Casino is an injection molded plastic chip with a metal slug center for weight. No comparison.

Please, at least get samples before you buy

Advice to live by. Samples all the way.

Trust me, I'd rather keep the chip set. The problem is I have a cash game I run which requires more red chips than the $5000 I have. I looked all over for another 600 red chips, but nowhere to be found!!! I don't wanna go with these but with how big my game plays ($1-$2 NL which plays like $2-$5 NL, and 2 tables going most nights) I am in dire need of more red chips!!!

To draw a comparison, it's like going onto a car collector's forum to inquire about the value of THIS:

Say "Hi, I'm looking to join the car collector's community. I plan to sell my car here, then replace it with THIS"

Ha ha!!!!

The point Jambine might be making is, you might be happy with the money you make from the sale, but if you're a true chip/poker enthusiast, you won't be any more happy with the cheap plastic chips, than a car enthusiast would be driving their Gremlin after owning a turbo Carrera...

Trihonda, point taken. That would be the absolute last thing I want to do... Go from driving a sexy car to driving a zonk prize from Let's Make A Deal

Your chipset has a bank of over $17,000 dollars...? Your game really runs THAT big? Wow! On a side note, have you tried searching for more greens and blacks to increase your bank?

Yes, the game does run that big!! All the players want more red!!! I guess the compromise would be another rack of green chips. If someone can find me a chip set of the Casino de Isthmus with another 600 red chips and 100 green chips, maybe 100 black, it'd be ideal!!

Bounty Battle on the Border... It's a chip meetup. These are multi-day chip/poker events. Typically Thursday evening through Sunday morning. It's a huge gambol-fest of poker, great food, chip discussions/sharing, and great people.

There are several meetups held around various regions of country (and sometimes overseas).... Just go into the home game/meetups section of the forum, and you can read more about the various meetups.

Dang your game is no joke. Reserving my chips for Howsey already... or I'ld be able to help you... any other CDI sets out there?

You could try making a want ad on the classifieds. I would even buy some other set of cheap 5's until you can fill out that set.
