Paulson.... (1 Viewer)

I work in the manufacturing/wholesale distribution market for a non chip related industry. What I can say is money and volume is everything. When people call up wanting to place a “big” order, the small time guys have no idea what a big order really is and tell me that they want to spend $10,000 with me or order 100 pieces of something. I usually laugh at them, insult them, and then hang up on them. Ok, I do it a little nicer than that, but that’s essentially what happens.

How this relates to Paulson is what someone needs to know is what size chip order will get their attention, and does the entity placing the order have the funds to follow through? I would bet they could rationalize themselves into taking an order if it made financial sense to them. To me, that would be the easy part. Coming up with the money is a whole different story.
Paulson might not want to risk the integrity of their chips for casino use

I think we should turn this thread into a creation of an agreed upon awesome set of chips, from $0.25-25,000 chips, both cash and tourney, get together a 200,000 or more chip order between us and 200 other chippers to see if we even cut it close to Paulson’s minimums. Maybe we have something here?

someone involved in any of the original NAGBs can probably give you the last best info on how this happened, but it is currently accepted that paulson won't do it for non-gaming industry clients any longer. I hope you prove this to be wrong info, but probably a very difficult task. count me in if you succeed in a Paulson group buy though!
Does anyone know the ending chip count of the original NAGB sets? Perhaps that could give a ballpark answer for @coolguy101 ’s query

But now we’re getting to what @coolguy101 was talking about. That sounds like a huge order, but you’re talking about a one-time order of $500k. GPIs annual revenue is $80-90MM. If they’ve pulled out of the home market because the casinos have asked them to, there’s no way they’ll risk pissing off the casinos to improve their gross revenue by half a percent for a single year.

Absent deception, I think it would an order of a million plus units to get their attention. Even then, I’m not sure they’d do it.

They would if we give them an out. The out has to be for a reason that they could rationalize doing it. We just have to think of what scenario they would agree too.

On the off chance this isn't a troll, and to help the next newbies who wonder about this...

Getting chips from Paulson isn't a matter of order quantities. GPI simply will not sell to customers other than licensed casinos no matter how big an order you place or how much money you offer them. The few times it's been done successfully (that we know of) were when a) the buyers pretended to be a middleman company representing cruise lines and b) the buyers enlisted the help of an accommodating casino.

Also: I'm linking to my post about this every time this comes up: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/sunsetbeach.66689/#post-1334466

What we really need is someone with deep pockets wanting to start a new business venture. They would hire Mike and Dave Endy as consultants to build a new chip company... acquire equipment, clay formula, etc, etc, etc.

Could call it BOCC. Blaze Orange Chip Company. Primarily produce eyeball burning blaze orange and a real true bright yellow. And signal green. Can't forget that green.

We can start a Kickstarter if there are no wealthy benefactors willing to step up.

Who's in?

I wonder if Paulson would sale to a poker room like the ones in texas. I believe those places are legal businesses correct.

Dream case for you would be for someone to set up an LLC with a gaming name, convince Paulson to do a million chip GB and then have Paulson sue the LLC for fraud. You get to represent Paulson and find out all the secrets. LOL

Wonder if they’d pay me in custom chips?

I’m so disappointed. I came to this thread just to see @BGinGA respond to this and he has yet to say anything. :ROFLMAO:

If you really want to try the sweet talk route, I recommend starting with a GPI distributor on another continent where rules are more guidelines.

How you get the chips back to the US, however, is another challenge.
