Sold Auction: 1100 TRK Deadwoods (1 Viewer)

This was a set that I swore I would never sell, and I can't remember the last time I have seen these up for sale in bulk. I purchased these chips 3 years ago, and I have put them in play exactly once. The previous owner owned them for several years without ever putting them in play. They may actually be cursed by their beauty. The edges are all still razor sharp, and unless you are a stickler over the definition of Mint, I think you will be hard pressed to find these in better condition.

Auction rules: This will be a blind bid auction. Please submit your bids via PM. Minimum bid must be $2860 (my cost), and incremental bids must be in multiples of $5. Auction will close at 10PM EST on Sunday January 31. I have no issue if you want to post your bid publicly in the thread, but am making it blind in case you do not want to share that information. If multiple parties share the winning bid, each of them will have the opportunity to increase their bids. I will conclude the auction via PM and will disclose publicly whatever information the winner will allow. Shipping will be at the expense of the winner. I will use whatever method and options you choose, but you will be responsible for the charges. I am willing to ship abroad, but the same rules apply, and I take no responsibility for the packages once they leave the US.

I will accept payment via Paypal FF or buyer is responsible for fees. If you would prefer to pay via a different method, please reach out to me privately before placing your bid. I don't have a dog in the fight and will apologize if I've mucked up Scott's thread, but I'll say that those who self-identify as "serious potential buyers" ITT yet didn't submit the minimum bid can't really lay claim to the label. In that sense it's not much different than a min bid on ebay hoping you win, regardless if one agrees with the format.

Perhaps someone will come in with some insane offer and he'll benefit because of it. But my hunch is that it's going to end up costing him money. I think Scott just enjoys a good gamble! Can't blame a man for that! But I hope he wins big on this auction.

I would have paid quite a bit for these chips (I just paid $5 a chip for those yellow Pick Hobson's in my profile pic from an auction earlier this month, and $8 a chip for a rack of those red, white and blue 100s). I love TRKs and don't mind spending my money on them.

Travis, I respect your point of view, but you should also recognize that your table image alone could totally impact an auction. Who in their right mind would want to get in a bidding war with a bonafide TRK Hoover (and I mean that as a compliment). Unless another Heavy weight (@BGinGA) were to step up, you could just as easily scare away prospective bidders, because they won't think they have a chance. Thats one of the flaws I feel with the open auctions within a small community. Im not trying to make an argument here, just pointing out a viewpoint that you may not see.

I will be content with whatever price these sell for. Had I not listed them this way, they probably would have just been listed as a WTS at $2860 and gone to the first person who responded. So I can't really complain about any lost opportunity.

In general, I don't think any Deadwoods would be considered fairly available, as they only come up for sale from time to time. There may be a thread that lists how many of each denomination were originally produced.

In my experience, the Higher denominations are much harder to find. $25's were the most common. I didn't really look for any $5s.

Thank you to everyone who participated. I think the final price was fair, and I am happy with the sale. For those of you who placed bids and want to know where you stood, I will say the following. I received 6 Bids. Two people bid the minimum amount. The other four were in another tier, but all relatively in the same ballpark. The winning bid was approximately $100 higher than the second. I did have a few private offers looking to buy a smaller set or just certain denominations. Those offers were another tier or two higher in price, but would have left me with with an unplayable set.

Well, we know the results out of this sale are inaccurate, Since there were many potential buyers who did not participate because of the format. I would hate to spread bad data throughout the community
