The 'My Goat' thread really got me interested in knowing everyones inlay size preference so I decided to take a poll to see where everyone stands.

I suppose but the counter argument is why go ceramic when you can go clay
If you can't see the clay because of the Giant inlay why pay for it? You can barely even feel it. Just my opinion, but if I need that much space on the face of the chip, I am going to go ceramic and use the rest of the face. I'm not going to go clay if I can't see the clay.

The best size of the inlay is dependent on the chip design. I like as large of an inlay as possible, but not if its 90% of the face, or covering the inherent design. But its just a silly to put a tiny inlay on a chip. Theres a reason that most clay chips follow the same basic layout.

The smaller the inlay the more the clay-to-clay contact and, hence, the better the shuffling sound.
But, for many (beautiful) inlay designs, at least an 1 inch size is required to accommodate their detail AND denominations.

Depends on whether you 're the visual or accoustic type.
Pr0n on mute mode, or a blind pr0n soundtrack?:D

^^ This. Why bother getting clay chips if you're going to cover up both the base chip ~and~ nearly all of the spot color/pattern with a relatively slick inlay -- which beyond the adverse aesthetic changes, also has a negative impact on the actual performance and playability of the resulting chips. It's just a waste of good clay imo.

Don't get me wrong, however -- I think both the Conteras and Duys are great chips..... in photos.

But I would not be happy actually playing with them. In which case, they may as well be ceramic.

Totally personal preference obviously but I don't like when the spots extend to the inlay. I like to see the separation and some base color between the inlay and the spots so it's 7/8" all the way for me. This doesn't mean that I don't like the look of other peoples' sets with larger inlays but, for my own set, this is what I concluded.

I know it's subjective but there could be reason to this

A. People want a large design area but still prefer the feel and sound of the clay. Plus the overall build of a giant clay chip is still better than ceramic. Ceramic fades over time whereas giant inlays on clay don't.

B. You can still see the edgespots with Giant inlay. Obviously they are not as dominant but some people prefer it to be more suddle.

I think for this reason it doesn’t surprise me that the 7/8 is preferred over the 1”

The 1” is really tricky IMO. The mold design has a lot to do with the overall outcome

With that being said...your Duy's Palaces are in the top 3 most beautiful sets evah imho.

Appreciate it. I'm happy that most of it is being used every week. Now all I need is to increase my annual income to the high six figures and I can start using the higher denoms.

Adults graduating from any f*ckin High School in the Western World are (were?) supposed to share a culture based on the Greek and Roman Classics...

Villian of HeMan. But he had to argue about not being nice and always screwed up. He's my PCF soulmate.

Only comix I 've ever read (in addition to Donald Duck/Uncle Scroodge and Micky Mouse) were about British heroism in WWII (translated to Greek, at the age of 7)

I wonder if anyone has done a He-Man inspired set...? I'm already thinking of a $25 chip with a battle cat inlay, green base and blaze orange spot pattern...
