Sorry if this was posted somewhere already, I looked but didn't see a thread on it.

I travel every week for work and for 2021 I was going to attempt to bring a very small cash game set with me. My thought or goal would be ~100 chips if you guys think it's possible. The same would most likely be 1/2 NLHE and with 5-8 players. Below is what I was thinking. Do you guys think it would work? If not, I'm open to suggestions! Also, the $2.50 chips are incase we play blackjack rather than poker but maybe it's not worth the 5 chips.

Oof. You're going to need to carry more chips. In a 1/2 game, you have 35 workhorse chips for 5-8 players? I think you can do the math to see how that would not go well, change would be need to be made every bet.

I would think it would be close to 5-6 players.

Yeah, I didn't think I would be able to swing it. I would most likely need 200-300 chips I think. That is just a little too much to lug around every week without knowing if we will get a game going.

With 200 chips, maybe you could go with:
40 x 1
80 x 5
50 x 25
30 x 100
Total bank of 4690 (23 x 200), which should be enough for a not so deep game with 8 players. A lot of change would have to be made, but I think it’s playable.

Have you just considered grabbing an Apache case? It would be one extra item, but it would completely resolve your issue.

I was thinking of a Pelican case. But I’ll look into an Apache case as an option.
I think you're going in the wrong direction here. You're looking for a small travel set, but you want to store it in a case that's 3-4x as big as it needs to be, because it's bulletproof? What you want is something smaller and low profile, that you can just stick in another one of your bags.
Search eBay to see what's out there. I think you could cover 5-6 players with 120-150 chips

This one holds 112 paulsons:

Pelican case is based on the idea that 200 chips won’t work for 5-6 players imo

I know we always wanna say MOAR chips but what about keep it ones and fives, and let cash play for $20/$50/$100. That saves on weight, and gives you space for the ones and fives that’s are gonna be in play every bet.
Going with that idea gives you 5x $1 + 14x $5 + 1x $25 = 20 chips per player and a $100 buy-in. The 160-chip case above then supports eight players. Rebuys can put cash on the table and trade a twenty for someone's fives, or a fifty or hundred for someone's twenty-fives.

Golden.

Very smart.

... and if you play with seven or six players, you can get the extra chips into the game by encouraging players to buy in for an extra twenty bucks or so. Or, if nobody gets in a twist about you being the big stack (which they shouldn't, since being the big stack in a cash game doesn't confer any advantage) you can just drop all the extra chips in front of your chair for free since you're the bank. The extra chips will spread their way around the table within a couple of orbits and relieve a bit of the change-making pressure.

Edit: Or, duh, even easier - hand out an extra five x $5 (or four x $5 + five x $1) to three players instead of the $25 when you're seven-handed, and same thing again when you're six-handed.

Cash on the table is sexy to say the least.

^^ This.

I'd go with 40/160 in a small 200-chip case, good for 5-6 players.
