I am an awesome husband... (1 Viewer)

I thought the thread was about your finding, through good-will work, a long-lost beloved chip under the carpet:D

I’m thinking of getting a roomba for my wife. I loooked at several and their prices have a wide range. Any advice?
I have a SharkIQ with self empty base and I also have a Braava Jet M6 mop. I like them both but I think Roomba mapping software is a little better that Shark. If I had know I would have sprung for the Roomba i7 with self empty base!

Useful only if the lady of the house is not OCD-hysterical.
My late mom would meticulously clean the house the day before the cleaning lady came, to avoid any embarrassment. :D

My wife does the same thing. Can't leave a bad impression on the cleaning crew. . . . .

But even so, there is plenty of work to be done. Takes the girls two to three hours to clean the house properly. Worth every penny.

100% agreee with this. Never thought I would do this and we did when my wife was pregnant with #2 and it was the best money spent by far.

The wife is out grocery shopping, so I thought I'd vacuum the living room for her. She didn't ask me to, but I am thoughtful like that...

Working on my day off, but someone's gotta do it.
Lines up with my previous comment. :)

We got a relatively inexpensive one from amazon and it’s amazing. Kids named it Don and treat it like a pet. Talk to it, help it when it gets stuck, etc. it was my son’s second word after dada.
Only futuristic stuff we had when we were kids was the Jetsons on black and white TV (and just 4 channels). :(

I’ve done this before the whole covid thing. We have a lady that comes but since we’re home all day now she just cleans. So I figure a roomba would help

Are you sure he wasn’t saying “Don-don”?

Why you wearing shoes in the house,
idk if it’s a Hawai’i thing but shoes/footwear in house is a big NO No

You leave that at the front door before you enter house.

Don't get top of the line but don't get the worst, either. They will last you around two years if you use them daily and they are awesome! Make sure you budget for any sensors and charging docks, if you are into that.

Don't give it a name because you will get frustrated at it for occasionally getting stuck and will be tempted to slap it.

I’ve always wondered about this! I think it’s an Asian thing. I’m Taiwanese, and so shoes in the house is a huge no no. Always leave them by the front door. But all my non-Asian friends wear shoes in their house. Do you wear shoes around the house all day? I don’t get it. All the public germs from the outside floor, bathrooms, gas stations, etc onto your floor? Please someone explain this to me.

I guess it's a cultural issue.
In my country, guests and people of the house would wear shoes in the living/dining room. Shoes would be avoided only in bedrooms.
Not anymore, after the pandemic, which is pretty shocking.
Here is a nice cultural map (if correct) by @BELGRADE (post#2,377)

no shoes/slippers/footwear is allowed in my house no ifs'ans'or buts that's jus nasty to think people go into bathrooms stores places where people spit then walk into there homes

where people spit
There has been a pretty successful campaign here against spitting on public grounds, in the '50s.:)
The campaign against blasphemy (with expressions like "f*ck your God", "f*ck your prostitute Virgin Mary" etc) hasn't been equally successful due to slow elevators and slow left-lane driving. :D

I’ve noticed it as well. I’m Asian as well and we never did this growing up and we still don’t. I feel weird when someone says “just leave your shoes on” when I enter the house.
