Sorry if there's a thread about this already, but what kind of breakdowns/starting stacks are you guys doing for t100 based tourneys?

10/4/7/2 seems like the all around most practical one, at first glance.

I have not implemented yet, but for our STT I was looking to use 10/6/11/1 because there are not too many 100s on the table, there is enough 1Ks in play so that I can handle rebuys with just 5K chips. We usually dont bother coloring up anyway, since by the time you are that high in the blinds to get to 1K chips, we really arent using the bottom denom chips much anyway.

I’d probably do 10/4/12/x. Maybe 10/6/11/x

I recently ran a T100 base Tournament for the first time. I loved it

I started everyone with 21K stack.

I suppose it all can depend what kind of chipper you are. I am into MOAR. I used :

15/7/11/1

It worked wonderfully. Less chip ups required and I even let the game run out with T500s in play. The guys liked them to be able to alter bet sizing.

I'll probably get scoffed at, but I have a big chip set and my players like deep stacks, so we go 30/20/12/3 for stacks of T40K and re-buys of 0/20/20/2. Just one table. We have a friendly blind structure, as well, because we like to let people play for a while. It's fun having all of those chips at our disposal. And the color ups make the number of chips on the table at the end of the night more reasonable.

We've never done this, but we could even go 30/14/10/4 for stacks of T40K with 24 players and 12 re-buys of 0/10/15/4. And still have enough chips left for color ups.

I need MOAR Stars, many many MOAR Stars if I'm to get to this level of glorious chip gluttony:nailbite:

You have a specific one of those you prefer? Different ones for different occasions?
Personally, I would not:
  • use more than 10 x T100 (unless antes are in play)
  • use fewer than 5 x T500 (if no re-buys) or fewer than 7x T500 (if using T5000 chips for re-buys)
  • use more than 1x T5000 for a 20k stack
So my preferences are:
  • 10/8/10/1
  • 10/6/11/1
  • 15/7/10/1
pending specific circumstances.

My setup is a little different because I run a t50,000. And so my setup is as follows (5 denoms from T100-T25k)...

10 / 6 / 6 / 3 / 1

This is basically the same as it was when I ran a T25 base, except instead of 12x of the t100s there are now 10x, and I added one t500.

12/12/5/6/3/1 simply became 0/10/6/6/3/1.

Yeah, well, if my chips cost what yours did, we wouldn’t be running stacks this size. ;)

Beautiful! Really nice chips and the table and chairs look badass too!

Diggin that red T100 and T25K is spectacular! What are these?
Thank you. They are NEXGEN 8000 plastic slugged chips. Nothing special, but they served me well over the years. I know they are weird color choices, but I got these almost 15 years ago when I knew nothing about “standard” colors. But I didn’t (and don’t) care. I like what I like. My next game (this Friday) will be the last time they are played at my house. Just sold them to a buddy of mine who is starting up a group in his neighborhood a couple hours away.

I just upgraded to Royals, and just got the labels yesterday. So that will be my set going forward. Very similar labels, though (but higher quality). These are sample labels, but the final design is basically the same. This pic was taken prior to making the purples a T25K and getting the white bounties.

I’ve been considering this, just because I don’t like the breakdowns that are t500 heavy.

Have you played it yet? How did it work out?

I played it once, 6-max without rebuy.
It was very smooth. Change wasn’t required often.

Thoughts please? Can I get away with 200 chips or should I bump it up to 300? I know more is better, trying to calculate the minimum number of chips to order without impacting the game. I will be buying a set to specifically handle this game, I am not planning for expansion, I have other sets that can handle bigger games.

Summary
Switching from T25 base - 10k - 12/12/7/5 starting stack to T100 base 10k - 15/3/7 or 10/4/7 starting stacks.
Single table 8 players with a max 4 rebuys.
Can I get away with 10/4/7 starting stack and have rebuys be 2 - T5000 chips?

Right now trying to determine if I should order 200 or 300 chips.

300 chips with the following breakdown (I like full racks)
T100 - 125
T500 - 50
T1000 - 100
T5000 - 25

Or 200 chips with the following breakdown
T100 - 90
T500 - 35
T1000 - 60
T5000 - 15

Calculations:
I currently play a T25 base tournament with a starting stack of 10k (12/12/7/5/0).
Typical game is 8 players with 2 rebuys, so I am planning for 8 players with a max of 4 rebuys.

For a T25 base tournament I would use the following calculations and then round up to 500:

Fore T100 base, I am thinking either 15/3/7/0 or 10/4/7/0

I think the absolute minimum would be 200

You can do 8 players x T10k stacks (10/4/7) and 4 re-buys (2 x T5000) with 200 chips:

80 x T100
32 x T500
64 x T1000 (includes 8x for T100 color-up)
12 x T5000 (4x for T500 color-up & 8x for 4 re-buys)
---------------
188 chips

You can also go with 10/6/6 starting stacks, which is a little more efficient use of 200 chips, and probably a better fit for your circumstances:

80 x T100
48 x T500
56 x T1000 (includes 8x for T100 color-up)
13 x T5000 (5x for T500 color-up & 8x for 4 re-buys)
---------------
197 chips

You don't need 15x T100s unless you are doing antes; those extra chip counts are better suited towards having extra T500s and T1000s. If using T5000s for re-buys, I'd recommend at least 5x T500s in the starting stacks to assist in making change when T5000s hit the table. Also the reason for using T1000s to color-up the T100s -- you're gonna need 'em. Chances are the event will end before the T500s get removed from play, so roughly 104-112 chips in play at tournament end.

Re: new T100-base blind schedule -- I'd probably go with 100/300 for L5, but otherwise it looks good (and pretty consistent with your T25-base schedule).

Why not go to a 2k chip when using a T100 base?

T10k:
10-10-2
10-6-3-Bounty
One barrel per seat so 200 chips for 10 seats.

T20k:
10-10-7

T2000 not recommended for small stacks (<25k) unless multiple tables.
Somewhat agree, but you could also get away with using 2k chips in a T20000 starting stack.

10/6/6/5 starting stacks for T100/T500/T1000/T2000 if you don't mind the redundancy of T1000 and T2000 chips on the table.

Otherwise, I agree that T2000 and T5000 chips shouldn't be on the table at the same time unless you're playing a really deep stack.
