Any interest in reviving Dunes Compression chips (1 Viewer)

Mine were chalky.

I remember wiping the edges with a damp cloth before I put them into play. Just a quick swipe over the barrels in racks, but it picked up most of the chalkiness which I didn't care for at the time. Probably wouldn't bother me at all now.
I like chalky. Me likey chalky! Me likey chalky!

Okay I will put a number to my add on set plus 1000-1500 chips. I have really enjoyed this set. It has tested the time with my game/group.

Just sent Jambine a sample set last week. Maybe Ben can chime in on what he thinks?

Hopefully Josh can make this happen.
PUMPED FOR THE POSSIBILITIES :)

I think I will increase my interest from 500 to 1,000.

I really like the colors :)

Especially that $1000 chippie

Yes! This set really hits all the notes for me. You've got really bright ASM/CPC DayGlo or even Paulson-esque spots and bases on most of the denominations; the most understated of all of the chips ($25) still has some gravitas to it; the mold is unique as all hell.

Part of me wants to splurge on the 25k chip, but I also realize that just one barrel is probably more than I'll ever need for any reasonably sized tourney set and the "rarity" of the denom lends some of the prestige to that color combo as well.

To something like this?

May not be possible, given that the CC set tooling is 4318-based.

if this happens^^^^^ I would probably be in for a 600 chip tourney set, but I know my sample $1000 chip is not near as bright as the OP, and my pink colors are closer to @justsomedude 's photo not the OP as well

That was awesome. I want to make a modern version, but the same journey would take literally 4 times longer today.

I would probably be in for ~600

Edit: Probably has turned to maybe as I liked the sunfly samples a lot more than I thought I would.

How old are these chips? They are actually in good condition. Really nice too. I may have to get me a tournament set of these. Or just another cash set... Or even both lol

I got those chips from the Chip Room about 18 months ago (Fall 2014?). But they were Jim's old stock, and are probably closer to 3-4 years old.

The ones I sent you were spares, so 100% new/never-used. They still have some factory chip-dust on them.

Anyone know if Josh is taking the spring/summer off? :D

Interested but need to plan ahead.

Ah okay. I was just curious what they would look like over time. I noticed a few with very slight chip marks on edges which didn't concern me unless they were about 1 month old. Overall though, I would definitely take a set if these fall through

There are some kind of scary photos over in the CC 1 Year Out thread including some Dunes CCs. I am a little curious as to what we might expect from a new order of these chips and if the production methods and materials have improved over time. I know many, many people have great quality sets out there even after some 4 or 5 years so those scary shots look to be few and far between. It seems like shipping conditions and storage conditions both play a big role in how these sets hold up over time.

In any case, I'm still very excited that this is even a discussion. I do want a big Dunes CC set of my own. :p

You know, I don't know why China couldn't use better materials and higher quality assurance to make chips like Paulson makes if we just pay more for the chips.

For instance, is it even possible for these companies to say, "ok we will make a better product and you just pay a dollar a chip instead of 30 cents."

There's R&D, new suppliers, possibilities of different heating temps, and probability of new machinery just to name a few. Meanwhile CC sells like crazy to the disposable American market.

Ooooo I can't wait for preorders.

I was sad that I missed the first run of these. Excited to get a second chance!
