Has anyone gone fully digital, moving all their IDs, cards, and documents to their phone, and ditched the physical wallet entirely?

I've been doing the hybrid for the last 10 years or so... wouldn't do it any other way.

I did notice that digital IDs are only accepted in a limited number of states. Delaware takes a unique approach by offering its own dedicated app rather than supporting platforms like Google Wallet. I'm about 3 pieces of info away from going all digital. But I do like the hybrid approach.

Oh I'm not even close but there are still a couple places here that card EVERYONE.
Yeah, I had a gal do that once.
She said, “ID please”
Shocked and elated, I replied, “Thank you! You made my day.”
“Oh, I’m supposed to card everyone, regardless.”
I said, “‘You’re welcome’ would’ve been enough.” :ROFLMAO:

It’s been years, rightly so for me. I mean do you know any dumpy gray bearded bald underage people? Congrats to those young enough to still need their age checked. I’m just happy to keep going. lol.

my health insurance card, Rx card, Royal Farms card, and a handful of others haven’t gone digital yet. Need my wallet for “work” related cards too

My wife works at the local concert venue. She cards every single person no matter what. She said she’d 100% card me. If not , the manager could see that and reprimand her.

Same here with the Insurance and RX cards. Google wallet will digitalize them for you and save the actual photos. This comes in handy if they ask for your card to copy it, you can just forward them the image.

I recently added my ID to my phone. It also works as my car key so I can go with only my phone anywhere now. But I will still keep my key and wallet (usually I leave them locked in the car though).

I was with my brother on a job site in his Tesla when it failed to recognize his phone’s digital key. His son had to drive an hour to the job site to bring the original card/key. So as nice as all digital can be, I like to be safe and have a backup.

Oh, I get it. I just wish they’d lied and said they weren’t sure I looked of age. :ROFLMAO:

I'm old and paranoid. Depending on a single point of failure is madness. More so as it is a relatively fragile, valuable bit of technology. Not worth the risk. I'll keep my pocket full of cash, my physical Id / insurance / credit cards. I remember too many times in the past where modern Technolgy failed in times of stress.

Heck, I'm still thrilled when I can tap my physical CC to pay for groceries! My favorite corn truck (from a local farm in Iowa) is cash only.

And what if my phone is dead, lost or stolen, or I left it it at home, or I'm in an area with no service?

I'm with @DrStrange on this one.

every interaction at a point of sale I'm doing something wrong.

I tap card, nope its a swipe.

I swipe card . nope other way.

I swipe card, nope, you have to insert.

Insert other way. yup thats it.

Great ty

sir you have to sign.

Yep. I'm with DrStrange. I ditched my conventional wallet about six years ago. After a really fun experience with a pickpocket on a train in Rome, I went first to a card holder on the back of my cell phone, and when that proved a problem for cordless charging, to a slender leather holder carrying a nothing but a driver's license and two credit cards. That's a lot easier to carry absolutely securely. Zero problems as we travel all over the world for at least three months out of each year.

These days, it's easy to securely pack a duplicate driver's license and a passport card in addition to your full passport, and if you have a credit card problem, most issuers recognize it before you do, and can get replacement cards with new account numbers to you in any major US city overnight, plus one more day to Europe.
