Hi guys,

first of all, thank you very much for the advice on chips manufacturer, we went with Matsui, artwork is ready and it looks amazing, cannot wait to se them done and shipped!

Now, we need to break down the number of the chips needed. We want to run two tables, one of 25/25 and one of 25/50, 9 players each, with minimum buyin of 2000. We expect games to go quite deep. We will have chips of 25, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000. For fun and for some ego purposes ;) we will also have plaques of 10k, 25k and a big boy of 100k.

After some research, I have initially prepared those numbers:

- 25 - 400 (they will be used heavily I assume)
- 100 - 300
- 500 - 100
- 1k - 80
- 5k - 40
- 10k plaque - 20
- 25k plaque - 10
- 100k plaque - 5

It kind of seems as too little pieces, even though they cover the high amounts, or it is enough? If I am correct, a regular 1-table game should have around 600 pieces and here it is around 950 for 2 tables. I would appreciate the advice, including the breakdown of the 2k starting buyin.

What is the currency here out of curiosity?

I'm working off the assumption this is a cash game. For just a 2k buy in, I would say to have the blinds no higher than 10/20. If you are dead set on 25 bring the smallest chip, then buy ins should be 2500 minimum for the 25/25 table and 5000 for the 25/50 table.

In either case, no one needs more than than 20 of the 25 chip. They aren't going to be used much except for blinds. The 100 and 500s are going to be your real workhorse chips.

The Zloty?

If so it's about 4 Zloty per dollar. 25 Zloty would be about 6 that seems kind of large for cash.

Maybe @Greg78 is actually asking about tournament denominations?

Hey guys, thanks for answers. This is for private cash game, and yes could be a bit higher. Playsers are used to for 25-25 or 25-50 thus the blinds. Also, some of them are used to having smaller buyin at the start, that is why we set the initial minimum buyin at 2k, even at 25/50. Would appreciate the suggestions/confirmation on number of chips as presented

This is no different than what is usually recommended. 25s are the last important chip as they are only really used for blinds. So per table:

120-200 : 25
200-300 : 100
100-150 : 500
200-300 : 1000

What are your starting by stacks, and how many rebuys do you anticipate? Those answers will define your chipset.

FWIW, I would not want to play in a 25/50 game with a 2000 buyin. That's only 40 BBs to start and will not allow for good poker. A 25/25 game with a 2000 buyin is only 80BBs. You should be looking to start with 100-150 BBs at a minimum. Maybe you should be playing 5/10 and 10/20 if players only want to buyin for 2000.

Those are the minimum buyins allowed (80 and 40bbs) and not expected buyins. However many games will be in PLO and PLO 5cards where players like to gamble at first with smaller buyins and then see what happens.

Thank you @Legend5555 for detailed info. Do you think there will be so many 1ks needed?

I prepared something like this (for 2 tables):
25 - 300
100 - 400
500 - 250
1000 - 300
5000 - 40
Plus some Plaques, 50 in total.

What do you think?

For a $25/$50 blinds and a minimum $2000 buyin, you need the following for each player:

$25 x 12
$100 x 12
$500 x 1

If they buyin deeper than $2000, add more $500 chips.

For 9 players, you need:

$25 x 108
$100 x 108
$500 x 9

I would just 'get by' with $25 x 100. The first 7 people get 12 in their stack. The last two get 8 plus an extra $100. So:

$25 x 100
$100 x 110
$500 x 9

Assuming two 100xBBs per person (2 x 9 x $5,000), that's $90,000 needed for rebuys. I'd accomplish that (plus some padding) with 90 x $100, 211 x $500 and 20 x 1000 and 10 x 5000. Initial rebuys are $100 x 20 plus however many $500s you need to complete the rebuy. When the $100s are gone, rebuys are all $500s. If they are gone, give out $1000s (or buy change from the table). You do not need to give out any more $25s or many more $100s with rebuys, as there will be enough on the table.

So 1-table totals are:

$25 x 100
$100 x 200
$500 x 220
$1000 x 20
$5000 x 10

Double those totals for a $25/$25 game at the other table and you're looking at a set as follows:

$25 x 200
$100 x 400
$500 x 440
$1000 x 40
$5000 x 20

1100 chips should be enough. Total bank of $405,000 ($210,000 per table). If you think you need more bank for rebuys, probably drop barrels of $500 (up to 2) and add barrels of $1000s or $5000s. JMHO.

This is perfect, thank you very much! As I wrote before, we will also have plaques (about 25 in total) of 10k, 25k and 100k (this one more for fun) so they will cover cases of any possible deep stacks. Really appreciate the effort!

This is no different than a 25/50c game, just move the decimal point over.

For 2 tables:
25-200
100–300
500– 800 (workhorse chip)
2500–100
10k— 100

Using both 500 & 1000 chips is not a good use of chip breakdown.

^^^^ THIS! ^^^^

I didn't realize (remember) these were customs and a $2500 denom was possible. @Rhodeman77's breakdown is way more efficient. Seems like an abundance of workhorses, though.

Then again, 40 per player isn't outrageous. You could probably get by with 7 racks for two tables.

More workhorses means less big chips on the table, tho. All a matter of personal preference.
