The inlay is a riff on my old Binion's Horseshoe set with old school spots and colors, and the Lucky Dog art and theme that I have used before. The artwork on the horseshoe is deliberately more "cartoonish" to match the dog head logo. I'm not sure if I will pull the trigger or not.

Here is the inspiration:

Here is my first start on a cash set:

Addendum: Current thoughts. This is the new $500 chip in two potential versions

"Better lucky than good..." is likely going to be very hard to read at size. May want to print it out at actual size and have a look.

I love Benny's Binion's original label. It is a classic. My 2 cents I'd alter it enough to retain the old school quality and use it's original horse shoe with same fonts and denomination size then fill in your message inside the horse shoe it self. Use the inner circle for your logo.

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't want the horseshoe opening up because I am trying to re-imagine the Binion's design.

The denom was a last second addition and will need to be larger.

The horseshoe itself needs work - maybe more like the original, maybe more open toward the bottom.

As for the "better lucky than good" text, I agree that it will be barely legible, but, again, that is similar to the Binion's design.

Keep the thoughts coming - all input is appreciated even though I am still unsure that these will ever get made.

I like the dog... I'd make more of him. Make him bigger and give him a horseshoe tag on his collar. It'd free up soace for dog to be bigger, larger text and denom...

But that woukdn't make for a Binions-y look!

I like your "Better lucky than good" slogan. Now I was thinking of.....
"Luckier than a dog with two dicks". You might have some problems fitting that one in.

I like the balance of the second design better, but I am not a fan of the LUCKY DOG font in that chip. It's over-played, IMO.

The first is a tad busy, maybe?

I like the comparative simplicity of the second. And the larger tagline

I kind of like the originals more. No disrespect to the current designs as I like those. I think if you go with the new design the chip design will change. Not sure which is more important the nostalgic colors or the updated inlay.

Also might not work but if you are concerned about the “better lucky than good” fitting maybe you could do something like “luck > good”

I like this version a lot, however, have you considered going with a different inlay on each side of the chip? You could have the best of both worlds that way and still stick to the original plan/inlay somewhat

Definitely print label at or near actual size... Small print can disappear at that size...

I really love the Binions Horseshoe chips and I like your take on it as well. What would you think of trying the graphic as halftone? It's hard to tell in the photos, but all the faces on the originals are in halftone. I wonder if it would give it a more old school feel.

They came out great! What a fun set!!
