Found Protege 5000 chips - looking to purchase up to 100 (1 Viewer)

Own / use a tournament set of Protoges for almost two decades. Need more 5000s for my monthly tournament, I only own one rack. Willing to pay market price, any condition, vintage or version (they are for use). For example, happily willing to discuss imperfect or slightly discolored.

For quantities up to 19 chips, would pay $15/chip. For 20 chips would pay $20/chip. 100 chips would pay $30/chip. USA based transaction preferred but willing to work through some complexity for the right quantity.

If you think market is higher than that, and you can legitimately sell 20 or more protege 5000, I would happily consider any reasonable offer. DM me.

If you are a collector of protege chips, I have 50 each of the “blank” lavender and orange chips, lightly used (I use them as bounty chips, etc), willing to discuss a reasonable trade. DM for pictures if needed.

Also looking for a single purple protege 500 chip, will pay any reasonable price, need not be pristine. I have lost one of mine over the years, have only 299 of the 500s. Want to replace.

Good luck on the $5ks, they are not easy to come by. Nobody seems to have bought enough originally and so most sets are very anemic in that denomination range. I'd suggest looking into plaques if they at all interest you.

I have a very specific need, and my need is for 5k chips that I plan to use.

I've looked into buying a new set in the denominations and quantities I need for my structure and tournament size, and many of the products out there are nice quality. Even ordered a few sample sets and let my players touch and riffle them for feedback.

But ultimately, I'd like to avoid the hassle of sourcing, purchasing a new set ---- IF ---- I can find some more 5000s.

As you can imagine, in a T15000 with re-entry allowed for the first few hours, I disburse all 100 of my 5k protoges and have to buy them back from players five at a time with 25k chips to meet re-entry needs. That's an inconvenience I'm trying to solve without having to buy non-matching 5k chips or an entire new chipset.

My bid is the way it is because buying a rack all at once is more convenient for me than buying a small number of 5ks from multiple sellers. But I am happy to meet my need that way if that is what the market is.

Hope that helps expand on my thinking here! I am certainly not trying to be disruptive to other protoge owners / collectors.

Thank you for your kind reply! Just looking to buy one chip to bring my set back up to 300. Picture is of my set's vintage/version, although I'm not super picky since chip will be put in use.

I did reply to Joe Harris above as well offering to buy one chip from him if he can help. I suppose I can buy a second chip just in case

Fellow member Grimace is also looking for Protoge's in various tournament denominations and has been very kind with advice as I hunt for 5k chips. If you have Protoge supply please consider Grimace's wanted postings too.

Grimace made a very astute point to me, that some Protoge owners may be more interested in a trade for 5ks than in an outright sale.

In that spirit, while my purchase offer above still stands, if you have 5k chips and might consider trading a small number of them, I can trade some ratio of ND lavender (similar to the $0.25 quarters) or ND orange (similar to the $10 chip) or $25k or $100k chips.

Pictured with my amateur iPhone photography. These are all regular diameter, NOT oversized.

Please DM if you'd like to consider trading protoge 5k's for some of the below, ratio can be discussed depending on how many 5k's you might be willing to trade.
