3 times in the last year I've heard of pomona PD (I will refrain from calling them pigs here so as not to deal with all the bs that is sure to follow) have raided homes and arrested/fined homeowners for "illegal casino operation" for home poker nights. Such BS. I could almost understand it if it was getting out of hand and there was like a mafia lead ring and money laundering was involved (of course at that point its in the FBI's jurisdiction) but we are talking small friendly home games.
 
are all home games illegal in cali, or only raked games?
 
You should direct your anger toward the people who make the decision to target home games, which is never the cops on the beat. And if it only targets raked games, then technically it IS an illegal casino operation. If regular home games are getting raided, that’s another thing entirely.

Sounds like the alleged crackdowns are justified if they are collecting a rake. There must be thousands of home games happening in CA so I'd hardly call 3 a "crackdown".
 
I target my anger at both the assholes who run to the cops and lick their boots hoping to score points with them by telling on their neighbors (fascists) and the cops. I dont really give a shit if its illegal. these are adults that are consenting to this activity, no-one is being forced to go over to anyones house and no-one is being forced to make a bet, there is no consequences to not joining.

I have no interest in hearing apologies for cops either.

when I say crackdown it has more to do with the use of force in the raid and the overexcitement by the pd to bring out all their toys and make a big theater production out of it. this includes paying the neighboring city for use of their helicopter.

Some would argue that prostitution or drug sales are victimless, but we know that's not true. Gambling can be a compulsive act.

I have a hard time when law enforcement/prosecutors decide which laws to enforce and which to look the other way on.

If you don't like a law, there are legitimate ways to change a law.
 
Invite officers to the game to play, never worry about getting raided; Even if you're raking the game ;)

Use to play with a retired State Trooper, when he was at the game, I knew it wasn't getting raided. I know a Detective, he won't play in underground games, he walked into one I was sitting in the box, when I seen him, I knew the game wasn't getting broke up, even though he wouldn't sit, he was just saying hello. Most officers would rather be playing.

We all have a job to do, I hate getting a ticket, but I wouldn't wish harm on the guy/gal enforcing it, even if they are an asshole, but I would curse'em!

Are compulsive gamblers victims when they go to a casino? Or buy lotto scratch-offs? Are alcoholics victims when they buy liquor from a state run store? Are fat people victims when they buy Twinkies from Walmart?
 
I agree wholeheartedly with this. Erich, I think you should go to council and file lawsuits and complaints about what should and shouldn’t be responded to when complaints are made. Just give them a list that suits you. These pigs responding to complaints from other citizens is beyond asinine. Defund these oinkers!!

Locally, we used to have a place called Kings on the outskirts. It was a full house rented to some players who turned it into a raked poker house. Sometimes would run a 100/200 cash game.

Had a chef that made a menu that changed daily.

It got busted one night and hit the news, a local DJ that did a FM morning show was playing, and some lawyers. The two individuals running it got destroyed, and the owner of the house got charged and the house taken because he was aware of the use.

It later came out a player lost his entire paycheck one evening, told his wife, and she decided to call the cops daily until it was shut down. Blew up big time.

We have 8-10 card houses going, but most have kept it a bit lower key and stakes since.

I can hear the pigs that got called about this and had to respond, saying the line from Michael Douglas at the end of the movie, “I’m the bad guy???”

The defunding really seems to be working greatly. It was such a brilliant idea. Who needs those little piggies anyway?? I mean, besides those in political power that want to defund them that keep themselves surrounded by the blue meanies at most times??
