It seems like there are still quite a few people who run Poker Mavens (PM), and with the latest update (v7), we now finally have the ability to use some higher fidelity graphic images. I spent a couple of days figuring out a way to convert flat, top-down poker chip photos/scans into a faux 3D style that would work with PM. I like the results:
Poker Mavens v7 Stock Chips (aka digital dice chips
)
Sexy BearMetal Chips

So, I would like to spin off a new thread from the original Online Home Poker thread so we can try to consolidate images/chat about these images in a single location. A few things to note:

And here are some more examples of what I've done (and I am sure I will edit the OP as I get new ideas).

I am on the fence about removing the denominations. In some cases, I think it's awesome when they match up (like the $1/$5/$25 above), but it might be weird if the denomination can be read when PM renders the chip and it's wrong (like a BTP 25 instead of 500k).
In the above 2 images, you can see that the green BTP $25 chip is missing its denomination in the top image, but it's there in the bottom. So, anyway, I guess what I am saying is that I can't make decisions.

So, I would like to spin off a new thread from the original Online Home Poker thread so we can try to consolidate images/chat about these images in a single location. A few things to note:
- I have somehow, again, cobbled my way through GIMP and Inkscape and figured out how to make something look pretty decent. I am not an artist and I am by no means claiming that these are final or perfect. So, if there's something that doesn't look quite right, feel free to tell me and I can work on it.
- My issue now seems to be lighting. In the above image, you can see that there isn't consistent lighting between some of the white-label chips. I've been working on this and can tweak chips as necessary to produce better results. I just don't want detail to get washed-out or lost. The first 4 chips were pretty wild in their brightness, so I tried to tone them all down to roughly the same level.
- This is not a place to bash my spot progression. But I admit, I might not have picked the best order. And I am sure some people only play cash and would prefer some of the higher-denomination chips to be lower down (and vice versa). So I am happy to make changes if anyone wants them.
- I am currently working to procure a stockpile of good quality, top-down images. Hopefully this will allow me to make many more sets.
- These are 100% free. All of what I do on PCF has always been and will always be free. I'm just happy I can give something back to the community.
