Good photos of your chips would be helpful -- and awesome to see -- but I'm not sure anyone will be able to say with certainty from where your chips came -- the dig, or direct from the Playboy before it closed. I'd love to see the boxes they're in, too.
Generally, if you have any chips in quantities greater than a sample set -- so racks of chips -- everyone in the chip collecting world will assume your chips are from the dig unless you have proof you got them from a former employee or a collector who can provide the provenance of the chips. The chips were coveted and extremely hard to find before "the dig," so even the most accomplished collectors had just a few Playboy AC chips direct from the casino.
If your chip collection includes racks of Playboy AC chips and are $5, $25 and $100 chips, they are almost certainly from the dig. There are two "spot" colors of the $25s and $100s (primary and secondary chips), and all of those versions ended up in the hole at the former Green Duck Co., factory.
Some "dig" chips are a bit beaten up, but many look and feel just like they did when they were on the tables in the early 80s.
If your chips are white $1 chips or purple $500 chips, those are almost certainly NOT from the dig. I've spoken to an
eBay seller who got his Playboy chips from the dig in Hernando, Mississippi and he said there were no $1s or $500s in the hole.
Playboy AC chips were everywhere right after the dig. Lots of those chips were sold on
eBay and on the blue wall. Some folks here on PCF acquired very large sets of those chips. Some of those larger sets have hit the market recently.
So, it is just my humble opinion, but I think it's far more likely that your chips are from the dig.
