I'm making a scrown New China Club tribute set and have run into a problem. Actually, the guy who was doing the artwork for me ran into a problem.

I need to get a hi-res photo of
242049

The hula girl so that he can pull it out without it looking like a pixelated blob a play-doh.

Can anyone who has one of these chips help me out? Or any of the chips with the "hula girl" picture?

I’ve got a barrel of them, and could scan one, but it’ll have to wait for a week or so. I’m presently away from the Strategic TRK Reserve.

I could get you a pic, jpeg or RAW, but not sure how to get a file that large to you. I could try email...

That would be great!! Let me ask the graphics guy what would be best. I am way out of my element with graphics.

Lets see if we can make it work with what we have. If not, I'll let you know.

Thanks!

Issue I'm having is that the image on the chip isn't very crisp to begin with. You might need a Photoshop guy to smooth the edges and punch up the face. These are with some basic magnification. Going to definitely need some artistic magic.

I think you are exactly right. It is a blurred image at it's best that keep getting a little worse with each transmission.

I think the blown up picture you just sent will help him do the photoshop. I really appreciate it.

The photoshop guys says a RAW or eps file would be the best.
my email is [email protected]

(I don't have dropbox)

Thanks, doing a cash set on the s-crown. Don’t know if the pictures are high res enough, but chipguide has some pics of these chips also

Chip guide is where I got my best pictures. I just wish I had some real graphic, photoshop skill...:(

I’d love to find a rack of these:

I’m convinced they’re somewhere in Mike Spinetti’s junk drawer....

That set inspired me too!!!

It seems that most of the "wild" $5's disappeared somewhere...;)

Were you able to get your vector drawn? I dont really know what I am doing, but I wanted to start messing with some of the image rendering software to build custom inlays eventually. I have been messing with GIMP and Inkscapes and thought I would use this as a first bitmap trace. I started with a scanned chip image, exported the queen, create a bitmap trace, and came up with the following scalable vectors. I shrunk the large image for reference to the original. If this saves you any time or hassle, I can send over the vector file from Inkscapes to use for your artwork. Good luck on the design!

Original Chip Drawing:

Pulled the Queen Off:

Traced the image as a bitmap so it was scalable:

Scaled down to original size (as a traced bitmap):

Thanks for doing all that. I ended up doing a manual, mono-color tracing/drawing of the "hula queen" which allow me to improve the resolution a bit. I also had to change some elements to make the chip a tribute as opposed to a replica.

Overall, I think it turned out pretty good. Some of the font work was little off, but I feel like the original chip is a little quirky anyway. I think that is what I like about it.

@XBobdog those look great. I like the changing color on the dress based on denomination. Wonder if you could match that yellow dress on the $25 to the chip color of the $5. It appears bit brighter, but may just be my eyes.
