Kings Wild Project and the like (1 Viewer)

Beowulf, Robin Hood and maybe three others. Haven’t got them yet but will let y’all know what I think. They definitely look cool IMO. And there’s a wide variety of art style. If they’re even playable they’ll only be used for small games, like four or five players

I found these yesterday and had thought about picking up a few decks or trying the subscription but I also wanted to check and see if anyone here had any info on them.
They sure do look awesome there are some sets I wouldn't use in a game due to odd colors and may be difficult to read quickly but would make great collectors and some of those sets are common looking enough to play with while still adding some fun and flair to the game, I may go ahead and get one to check out from the table players set.

I ordered on Sunday and got a shipping notification yesterday at 6pm. Still haven’t been dropped at the PO. Mine are shipping from Cleveland, TN, so maybe have them Saturday.

I got my first deck from the table players subscription. I like them a lot. Going to order more.

Just curious did you get standard or guilded for you subscription?
The ones I ordered were the standards to try and I plan to use them in games but if I really like them I have considered a guilded subscription just to collect.

Are they paper or plastic, seems like paper to me? Look cool but probably not for playing.
Honestly I was just so blown away by how fascinating some of them were I didn't really look into that. I think I just assumed they are plastic
( Guess I'll find out in a few days)

Which deck you get? And do they feel good to play poker with or just more of a novelty for people that appreciate the art?
I myself only ordered decks that were familiar looking enough and easy to read just to add a lil spice to the games, they have some cool looking decks that are definitely more artistic that I appreciate the art work but I would never use to play with and would be more for collecting or display purposes.

I have the both the Legal Tender holographic edition and the Federal 52's. To me, they seem to be kind of sister decks in the theme of money.

Jackson Robinson's artwork is amazing and he certainly has a specific style. Some are definitely more playable than others. I'd say the Legal Tender are more collectible and the Federal 52 are legible enough to be used in game play. May depend on the crowd though, I tend to play with a group who appreciates unique cards so long as they are easy enough to read. I'm sure there are purists who don't care about card design and prefer just to keep standard faces for familiarity.

Both are paper cards and although I haven't pulled the trigger on the subscription, I believe most of those offerings are paper as well. The Legal Tender deck was printed by the Expert Playing Card Company and is a bit more slippery to handle (likely due to the holographic finish.) The Federal 52's were printed by the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) and handle well.

Theory11 makes some nice cards also and they have quite the variety. Again, most of them are paper and not plastic, but the Monarchs are some of my favorite that handle well with pretty standard faces. May be worth checking out if you're not committed to plastic cards.

Oddly enough I was just looking thru the theory 11 site a few mins ago but had to get back to work, I will look more into them in a few hours and I'm not necessarily committed to plastics I more just buy what I think is cool and once I get it I'll determine if I want to use them in play or just collect because they're interesting to me.

Finally got my cards in. I’d say they’re playable as far as feel but some of the decks certainly would be hard to read. I’d say it’s a mixed bag as far as playing with certain crowds. I’d play with all of them with certain friends, and none of them with other friends. Some of the cards are slightly sticky too bit I’m guessing that will dissipate quickly. I’ve got the $12 monthly subscription and will keep it for at least a few months.

I’ve purchased several uncut sheets and limited art prints from Kings Wild and framed them for in my rec room. They look great!

Where’d you purchase your frames? And pics? I’ve got some space on my walls to fill

I got some of the kingswild cards, they are all paper cards as far as i know, imo more for cardistry and magic. Love the design. Especially the limited one, looking like a vintage box of matches on the left

I got mine in the mail yesterday, and I believe you are right.
However I do really like these cards and ordered another couple of decks today.
May I ask where you got the plastic card case?

I got them during my crazy card collecting time through a kickstarter project by tccpresents. Got 2deck, 4deck and 6 deck case.

I have several opened but unplayed Kings Wild decks. (mostly bought two and only keeping the unopened version). PM and I can tell you what I have.

HI all -

I have been loving these designs from KINGS WILD... however... I have to ask.. why would you play with these cards - or perhaps you wouldn't? Then I would ask, what would you do with them? display them on a shelf?

I contacted Kings Wild and asked about their UNCUT SHEETS.... they have a couple on the site, but not nearly the selection I was looking for. I argued that selling MORE uncut sheets would likely have them framed and they would become ART/ADVERTISING in someone's house.... FREE ADVERTISING!

I was told that this is not what they do and what they have on their site is all they have for uncut sheets. This is beyond disappointing.

Is anyone a member? do members gain access to some of these decks as uncut sheets?

And again... what do any of you do with these decks? I feel like beautiful art like this being kept in a box for no one to see is like a masterpiece being hidden in a storage container... whats the point?

Am I way off here?

What do you do with these??
I started by using them for magic and cardistry. Then i started to also collect playing cards, but realized there is just way too many of them, it has absolutely no end.. I also enjoy displaying them (have some nice display cases as seen above). But now i also sell them.

That's what I mean... I do appreciate the decks... but its not like a book on the shelf that someone can pull down and read through... you see a tuck box titled "super deck" you take it down and flip through the cards (if they are out of wrapper??) and even then... I would NOT want to play any game with these cards.. they just are too "OUT THERE" for any card game....

This is why I think UNCUT SHEETS are the way to go and it blows my mind how this has not taken off as a thing!!

I DO have bicycles in uncut sheets which is fine... but I want some ART for the walls!

Me personally i dont have any uncut sheets, but in cardistry, magic, collectors they are really popular. Check out kickstarter, lots of playing cards (lot of them offer uncut sheets) start there..
