Cash Game Help to setup a .25/.50 cash game (2 Viewers)

I have been running tournaments for a bit and have been wanting to start cash games specifically in the .25/.50 range and was wondering what denoms I should buy as well as how many of each denom I should get. I am hosting for around 8-10 people and I plan to get a second set of chips specifically for the cash games but any help regarding in what to buy and what not to buy would be helpful

The breakdown below could be a potential starting point. Adding on if needed. (your addition would likely be more $5's)

80 $25's
20 $100's

Or you could come over to the dark side and play .50/.50. My drawer currently has in it:

60 fiddies
200 singles
240 fives
80 20s
20 100s

I actually would prefer 25s over my 20s but that's a personal choice either works fine.

I’ve been seeing that a lot of people use 20 instead of the 25 denom for cash games, should I get 20s or would the 25s be enough?

$20 or $25’s is personal preference. The argument for $20’a is that in a low stakes game you may get rebuys/add-ons of $40 or $60 etc. so the $20 chip is easier to give them those amounts. If your players have much casino experience though they will probably be annoyed and confused by a $20 chip. My players were. I rarely use my $20 chip now. The last time is when I brought the set for a Meetup, otherwise I use the $25.

In my opinion, 25c/50c and 50c/50c play exactly the same. The normal 600 chip break out for these limits are:

100 - 25c
200 - $1
200 - $5
80 - $25
20 - $100

If your game is more wild then I’d go heavier with the $5 and less with the $1. Something like this:

100 - 25c
140 - $1
260 - $5
80 - $25
20 - $100

I prefer $25 over $20 chips since most times I’m not exchanging rebuys on a 1 to 1 chip basis, but it’s just preference.

For the 25/25 game we play we use the following breakdown:

200 - 25c
360 - $1
220 - $5
20 - $25

Most of the guys like more chips in front of them so thats why there are so many lower denominations. There are definitely better setups that only use 1 rack of fracs and change is made when needed. Plus it would give you a bigger bank with 200 less chips.

A barrel of 25¢ = $5
A barrel of $1 = $20
A barrel of $5 = $100

Makes it really easy to make change and cash out.

A lot of people will add on with a $20 bill out of their pocket and a $20 chip works well. Personal preference.
