Hello, I hope you're all doing well today! I'm taking my first ever trip to Vegas soon, and it has rekindled my poker interest from years back. This naturally led me to looking into poker chips, which brought me to this wonderfully intriguing corner of the internet. My curiosity is highly piqued!

I'm really interested in learning more about poker and poker chips, and I also like to do a bit of design on the side, so I will probably venture into the design section of the forum at some point as well.

See you around!

Croeso, brawd! Where in Wales are you? I did Vegas for the first time recently, too, so happy to help with any advice.

So I think this joke is lost on most North Americans. :cool

The joke is 'What do you get a Welshman for his birthday'
- A Pair of Hook and Loop Gloves aka Velcro Gloves  :ROFLMAO:

Better than being a thief!

Croeso! North Wales currently. Thank you for the offer, there is nothing I can think of specifically to ask about, but if there is any key advice that you think I absolutely must know then I am all ears!

Ahhhh, siarad Cymraeg?

I'd say the two places you categorically have to play poker are the Bellagio and Wynn (the latter especially if you like tournaments).

I speak a little that I picked up from some local lessons, but I don't actively practice. I'm originally from England, and Welsh is hard! I can however read and pronounce correctly even if I don't understand what I'm reading most of the time. I realised shortly after I replied to you that I should've said 'Diolch!', my partner who is a bit more active in her learning grilled me for that one much to my chagrin.

We are staying at the Wynn for a few nights, so there and the Bellagio were definitely in my sights, thanks for confirming they are good places to be. I'm also going to see if Apache will deliver me a set of poker chips while I am out there, directly to the casino, as their site indicates they are able to. Might harvest a few souvenirs as well however... :D

Ahhhhh, you'll absolutely love the Wynn... Stunning venue. Make sure you book an outside table by the lake at SW Steakhouse, btw — best steak joint in Vegas by a mile, IMO.

If you're looking to harvest some souvenirs, may as well harvest enough to build your first Paulson set for cheap, buddy! Although I can't imagine your other half will thank me for suggesting that.

I'll definitely look into the steakhouse suggestion.

Building a set isn't out of the question, but wouldn't 300 $1 chips (I wouldn't go higher!) make a poor set without any extra work to make them suitable? Plus, any amount that makes a set might make me feel guilty for taking

Yeah, definitely need extras to pad out a set, but can always harvest blue AND white $1s, then relabel one of them as a different denomination. Exhibit A:
