Curious how many of you mix chip brands in your cash game sets?
Like using different companies for denom colors, or blending ceramics and plastics?
Or are you all purists about keeping one set tight and consistent?

I don’t want to speak for everyone, but I think this is one line that most of us don’t cross. I personally wouldn’t mix BCC with Paulsons for many reasons, color and shuffle feel being the most prominent.

The only set that mixes brands is my Binions Horseshoe WSOP set bc it’s impossible to get certain denominations now and hell they did it themselves.

“HERESY!” = 97.6% of the responses you’ll get

If you don’t care, go for it. I doubt most folk mix ceramics/china clays/paulson/CPC in single sets.

There are ‘rat rod’ sets where the singles are mixed and different, but I think those are still like all paulson casino rat rod etc.

GL!

Wow you went right for the hot button didn't you?

This is one of those polarizing things. People seem to largely fall into the "my Lord what have you done?!" hard against it, or "CHAOS!!!" and mixing molds, manufacturers, and materials willy nilly because it makes you happy and why not?

Neither of these approaches to the hobby is wrong. But I think there are more people here in camp 1 than camp 2.

ETA: I'm personally in the "do what you want if it makes you happy" camp and have a mixed mold rat rod set in progress I really should catalog some time.

It happens in casinos here and there but whether it’s in a casino or at home, what’s the opposite of aesthetically pleasing?

I've mixed RHCs & THCs in one of my mixed sets without much problem (and I'm a little OCD). And I've played with mixed sets (not mine) of ASM/CPC molds in the same set before. But I would draw the line at mixing ceramics & clay, or plastics/ceramics/clays/china (brands) clays in a set.

I had some ceramics made to use with a past Bud Jones set. They blended in quite well.

I use fracs with RHC, diamond, no & house molds with various vintage sets and with RHC and house mold Paulson casino sets. Fracs are hard to come by, I do what I gotta do  And I have no shame :)

I’ve specifically put together a mixed brand plastic cash set

Bud jones (to be relabeled) fracs
Abbiati $1’s (need to acquire, currently Lake Elsinor Paulsons)
Gemaco $5’s
Matsui $25’s
Bud Jones CIC $100’s

They all sure do feel and stack differently!

Casinos that used Bud Jones in the '90's used suits mold fracs that were lighter (7g) than the other non mold denominations (11g).

Las Vegas Club (yellow $.25)

Mirage Springs (Pink $.50)

The fracs sound & feel more like clay compared to the V7's so it's kind of like having 2 different manufacturers and it does not affect the game at all. Nobody thinks it's weird or gets all OCD about using them. I say MIX IT UP gents!

This ones has BCC $100’s because…
1. The THC ones sell for $200 each
2. The BCC were still made for same casino
3. See # 1
